Why the birth hour matters
Five ways to read yourself
Each one sees a side of you. The difference is what they look at.
① Sun sign: the month you were born
Everyone born in the same few weeks gets the same description. About one in twelve people on Earth shares your sign, and the weekly horoscope is written for all of them.
→ 12 types of people
Out of 10,000 people born the same year, how many are "like you"?
Same sun sign: 833.
Same Zi Wei chart:
just 1.
Averages: sun sign and zodiac 1/12, MBTI 1/16 (real types are uneven), birthday 1/365, hour 1/12, sex 1/2.
FAQ
How is Zi Wei Dou Shu different from MBTI?
MBTI is a questionnaire, so the result depends on how you answer — mood and context change it. Zi Wei Dou Shu (Purple Star Astrology) uses only your birth date, birth hour and sex, so it comes out the same every time. MBTI gives you one four-letter type; Zi Wei maps twelve palaces — work, love and money each have their own — plus ten-year cycles.
How is it different from my sun sign?
Your sun sign depends on the date, so everyone born in the same few weeks shares it. Zi Wei Dou Shu goes down to the two-hour birth slot. Across every day and hour from 1950 to 2009, people of the same sun sign are spread almost evenly over the fourteen main stars — the hour is what tells people apart.
How is it different from Vedic astrology?
Vedic astrology looks at which of the 27 nakshatras the Moon occupied at birth and uses the Dasha system for life periods. Zi Wei Dou Shu is a Chinese system that places fourteen main stars into twelve palaces from your birth time, with ten-year and yearly cycles. Both have a timeline; the terms and maths are completely different.
How is it different from Four Pillars (Ba Zi)?
Both use the year, month, day and hour of birth. Ba Zi turns them into heavenly stems and earthly branches and reads the balance of the five elements in ten-year luck cycles. Zi Wei places stars into twelve palaces, so each area of life gets its own reading. They look from different angles and complement each other.
What if I don't know my birth time?
You can still start. Choose “I don't know the time” and you'll see the handful of Life Palace stars that day can produce. To narrow it down, ask family roughly when you were born, or use Xingge's birth-hour finder.
Is it free? Is my birthday stored?
Free, no sign-up. This page does not store your birthday. Only when you open the full chart is it remembered on this device so you can read all twelve palaces.
