What does "clashes with" mean?

Each day's branch clashes with the opposite branch; a Dragon day clashes with the Dog, for example. Traditional date selection avoids days that clash with the zodiac animal of the people involved, such as both partners for a wedding.

Is this related to Zi Wei Dou Shu?

They are separate systems. The almanac rates the day itself, the same for everyone; Zi Wei Dou Shu looks at the year and month on your own chart. You can use both.
