Cray demanded an absolutely quiet working environment with minimal management interference, but as the company grew he was constantly interrupted by middle managers. He decided to leave St. Paul for somewhere far enough away to discourage a "quick visit" yet close enough to come back for meetings; Norris backed him and set up a new laboratory on land Cray owned in his hometown of Chippewa Falls. After leaving CDC, Cray founded Cray Research. When the company's president went to Wall Street for seed money, he found that Cray's reputation was so strong that the financial world was eager to invest; the Cray-1 came out in 1976, and that summer the first full system sold for $8.8 million. In the Decade Luck for nominal ages 44–53 (1968–1977), the decade's Life Palace moves to his natal Wealth Palace, which holds Tian Fu (Miao).
