Reading the year on your own chart
The same year lands differently for everyone: it depends on which of your palaces these four stars sit in, and which of your palaces is the Chou square (the yearly Life Palace). The yearly forecast tool works it out from your birth date.

When does the year start?
Zi Wei Dou Shu changes year at Lunar New Year. In 2021 that falls on 2021-02-12; before then, the previous year still applies.
How do yearly and birth-year transformations differ?
Birth-year transformations come from the stem of your birth year and never change. Yearly ones come from the current year's stem and change every year, showing what gets amplified that year. Both are read on the same chart.
Other years
This is the general reading. On your own chart it shifts with the stars' brightness, the San Fang Si Zheng and the year you are in.
