A skeptic who asked for evidence
Sagan promoted scientific skepticism and opposed pseudoscience. In 1974 he challenged Immanuel Velikovsky to a debate; in a column for Parade he proposed a "Baloney detection kit", which he expanded on in The Demon-Haunted World. In his chart, the Life Palace has no main star and is read through the opposite palace's Ju Men (Miao). Ju Men corresponds to the mouth and speech, and is also the star of probing and doubting; in Miao it asks deep questions and explains clearly. That lines up with his insistence on evidence for everything.
Source ↗Cosmos in his Career Palace decade
In 1980 the documentary series Cosmos, which he co-wrote with Ann Druyan and narrated, was broadcast, and it has been seen by at least 500 million people in 60 countries; in the same year he co-founded the Planetary Society. These years fall in his Career Palace Decade Luck (nominal ages 46–55), and in the decade's Four Transformations Tai Yin (Bu) takes Hua Ke (Transformation of Fame) in the decade's Life Palace. Hua Ke corresponds to reputation and being seen, which lines up with Cosmos going on air and bringing him to many more people's attention.
Source ↗Parents who taught him skepticism and wonder
Sagan's parents took him to the 1939 New York World's Fair, gave him his first library card, and bought him chemistry sets and reading matter. He said: "My parents were not scientists. ... But in introducing me simultaneously to skepticism and to wonder, they taught me the two uneasily cohabiting modes of thought that are central to the scientific method." His Parents Palace holds Lian Zhen (Ping) with Hua Lu (Transformation of Wealth). Hua Lu is receiving and gain: much came to him from his parents, as these words show.
