What the Fire 6 · Empty Palace type is like
Turn up the flame at a stir-fry stall, throw in whatever ingredients you have, and three minutes later there is a dish. A Fire 6 empty-palace type works the same way: whatever the setting hands them, they quickly cook it into a signature dish of their own.
Empty Palace meets the Fire 6 Bureau
With the Life Palace empty, it is read by borrowing the main stars of the opposite palace. That is a way of reading, not a star actually present in the Life Palace, and brightness is taken from the opposite palace too. A Fire 6 empty palace spreads its twelve borrowings very evenly, most at around 8.5%, with only Tai Yang with Tian Liang and Tian Tong with Ju Men slightly rarer at about 7.5%. Fire is the element that transforms things, and borrowed stars entering this bureau get cooked into different flavours. Borrow Tai Yang or Lian Zhen and fire meets fire, doubling the heat; borrow watery stars such as Tai Yin, Ju Men or Tian Tong, and Water puts out Fire, the borrowed star cooling the blaze; borrow Tian Liang, and Fire produces Earth, the bureau's heat feeding the borrowed star; borrow Tan Lang, and Wood feeds Fire, the borrowed star adding fuel to the bureau. The Life Palace most often falls in You, Wei or Shen, about 14% each.
Work and money
Their strength is fast transformation. Hand them someone else's plan and they quickly turn it into their own version; drop them into an unfamiliar industry and within weeks they speak its language. Content adaptation, localised marketing, rapid product prototyping and event planning are all fields they pick up fast. Their way of earning often involves transformation too: turning a hobby into a side business, taking a skill to a new market. The catch is that a high flame burns easily, and with too many transformations at once, no dish comes out right.
Love and getting along
In love they are good at stir-frying two lives together: the partner's friends become their friends, the partner's tastes become the couple's everyday cooking. Life with them has a warm, lived-in feel. They need a partner who is also willing to cook, the two of them deciding together what goes in the wok, rather than one always handing over ingredients and the other always at the stove.
When things get stuck
When the wok is too hot, everything thrown in burns. They take things in fast and transform fast, and sometimes they have already become something else before thinking it through, only to find later that they do not much like it. A prep stage helps: with a new setting, relationship or job, look and smell first, and then decide whether it goes in the pan.
The rhythm of the 10-year periods
The life-period clock runs slowly in Fire 6: only at age 6 (counted the traditional way) does the first period begin, in the empty Life Palace itself, with changes at 16, 26 and 36. For an empty-palace type so good at transforming their surroundings, starting a little later means a few extra years watching how other people cook. Each change is like moving to a new kitchen. Getting to know the new stove and ingredients before turning on the flame usually produces a better dish than throwing everything in the moment they walk in.

Where it comes from in Purple Star Astrology
In this type the Life Palace has no main star. That is called an Empty Palace, read by borrowing the stars of the opposite palace; Xingge calls this persona the Traveler.
The bureau is the Fire 6 Bureau. The Five Elements Bureau comes from the Nayin of your Life Palace stem and branch; it places the Zi Wei star on the chart and sets the age your first 10-year period starts, which is 6 for this bureau. No bureau is better than another; Xingge reads it as a flavour of the same persona.

FAQ
An old note says that with no main star in the Life Palace, “if the San Fang join Zi Wei, Tian Xiang or Tian Fu, lucky.” What does that mean?
It is a note in the Star Combinations section of the third volume. The main text concerns Zuo Fu or You Bi alone guarding the Life Palace with no main star in the Body or Life Palace, and the note says that if the San Fang meet Zi Wei, Tian Xiang or Tian Fu, it counts as lucky. Read today, the point is that the San Fang Si Zheng matter a great deal for an empty palace: with steady stars shining in from the Wealth and Career Palaces, the flexibility borrowed from opposite has somewhere to land.
Can an empty-palace type choose which star to borrow?
Which pair of stars is borrowed is fixed when the chart is drawn, by the opposite palace. But empty-palace types are especially shaped by their surroundings, so what they can choose is the setting: the people they keep close and the teams they join make a big difference to what flavour that borrowed base turns into. That is where a Fire 6 empty palace is most worth putting care.
How common is the Fire 6 · Empty Palace type?
Out of 262,980 charts cast for every day and every two-hour period from 1950–2009, 8,781 have Empty Palace leading the Life Palace and the Fire 6 Bureau: about 3.3%, roughly 1 in 30 people. Every day and hour is counted equally, so this is not the actual birth distribution of a population.
Why can two people born on the same day be different types?
Where your Life Palace falls depends on your birth month and birth hour, and your Five Elements Bureau comes from the stem and branch of that palace. So on the same day, one two-hour period later moves the Life Palace by one, and the main star and bureau can both change. The twelve hours of a single day usually produce several different types.
What is the Five Elements Bureau?
The Five Elements Bureau is the Nayin element of your Life Palace stem and branch: Water 2, Wood 3, Metal 4, Earth 5 or Fire 6. The number places the Zi Wei star on the chart and is also the age your first 10-year period begins (2 for Water, 6 for Fire). A bigger number is not better or worse; Xingge reads the element as a flavour of the same persona.
How is this different from MBTI?
MBTI comes from a questionnaire about how you see yourself. An Xingge type comes from your birth date and time, with nothing to answer, and the same birth details always give the same type. They work well side by side: MBTI describes your current habits, the chart describes your underlying nature and the rhythm of your life.
Which type do I get if my Life Palace has two main stars?
When two main stars share the Life Palace, the one listed first (in the order of the Zi Wei and Tian Fu star groups) sets the persona, the same as on your chart page. A Life Palace with no main star is the Empty Palace: the Traveler.
A type looks only at the Life Palace and the bureau: the roughest outline of a chart. People of the same type differ in the Body Palace, the surrounding palaces and the transformations.
