What the Fire 6 · Qi Sha type is like
When the beacon on the hilltop is lit, everyone for miles knows it is time to gather. A Fire 6 Qi Sha is that beacon tower: when they move, the people around them move too.
Qi Sha meets the Fire 6 Bureau
Fire meeting Fire is like with like, and this is Qi Sha in its purest form. Qi Sha is Fire and so is the Fire 6 Bureau; the bureau neither restrains it nor needs feeding by it, so the fire simply burns brighter: quick decisions, quick action, heat that spreads quickly. The Xing Xing Fu says “Qi Sha is like Zilu, who would fight a tiger bare-handed and wade across a river.” Zilu was Confucius's student, famous for his courage, and Confucius used that very phrase to warn him against courage without judgement. For a Fire 6 Qi Sha it is both real nerve and a reminder worth keeping close. They most often sit in Shen or Wu, about 21% each, with little to choose between the other four; Yin, Shen, Zi and Wu together come to nearly 69%, which a Xingge chart marks as Qi Sha Chao Dou (Seven Killings Faces the Dipper).
Work and money
They are the kind who can rally a crowd with a single word. A new team forming, a crisis that needs someone to make the call, a sleepy organisation that needs waking up: all suit them. Their pull comes not from eloquence but from the fact that they really will be first up the hill. With money they bet boldly and fast, so returns come quickly and swing widely. A reserve they never touch keeps the beacon fire away from the granary.
Love and getting along
In love they are direct: if they like you they say so, and if they want to see you they go. Life with them is rarely dull, but it is often a case of them deciding and the partner following. They need someone with views of their own who dares to say “hold on.” The two need not move at the same speed, but someone has to watch the road.
When things get stuck
Light the beacon too often and nobody knows which signal is real. They put full force into everything, which in time tires the people around them and blurs what matters. Saving full force for the battles that count, and giving the rest about seventy per cent, works better. And fire among fire is rarely blocked, so they seldom practise stopping. A night's pause before each big decision is often the night that saves the whole campaign.
The rhythm of the 10-year periods
By starting time, Fire 6 is the last bureau to set out: only at age 6 (counted the traditional way) does it enter the Life Palace where Qi Sha sits, with changes at 16, 26 and 36. For a Qi Sha born wanting to be first, that is an interesting arrangement, a life-period rhythm half a beat behind everyone else's. There is no need to rush to prove they have caught up at each change. Qi Sha's force does not shrink by arriving a few years later, and the one who arrives later is often the one who moves only after seeing the battlefield clearly.

Where it comes from in Purple Star Astrology
In this type Qi Sha leads the Life Palace. The Life Palace is the one of twelve that says who you are, and its main star sets your base color; when two main stars share it, the first one counts.
The bureau is the Fire 6 Bureau. The Five Elements Bureau comes from the Nayin of your Life Palace stem and branch; it places the Zi Wei star on the chart and sets the age your first 10-year period starts, which is 6 for this bureau. No bureau is better than another; Xingge reads it as a flavour of the same persona.

FAQ
Does a Fire 6 Qi Sha have anything to do with the Huo Xing and Ling Xing stars?
No. The Fire of the Fire 6 Bureau is the Nayin element of the Life Palace stem and branch; Huo Xing and Ling Xing are two malefic stars, read by the palace they fall in. The Complete Book says that Qi Sha “meeting Huo Xing and Ling Xing, its killing force grows,” which is about meeting those stars and has nothing to do with the Fire 6 Bureau. A Fire 6 Qi Sha may or may not meet them; the chart decides.
Does a Xingge chart always mark Sha Po Lang (Killings, Breaker, Wolf) when Qi Sha is in the Life Palace?
Yes. If the Life Palace holds any of Qi Sha, Po Jun or Tan Lang, the chart marks Sha Po Lang, because the three stars always sit in one another's trine and life moves in big swings. For a Fire 6 Qi Sha the line burns especially hot: change is fuel, but every departure needs a way back kept open.
How common is the Fire 6 · Qi Sha type?
Out of 262,980 charts cast for every day and every two-hour period from 1950–2009, 2,157 have Qi Sha leading the Life Palace and the Fire 6 Bureau: about 0.8%, roughly 1 in 122 people. Every day and hour is counted equally, so this is not the actual birth distribution of a population.
Why can two people born on the same day be different types?
Where your Life Palace falls depends on your birth month and birth hour, and your Five Elements Bureau comes from the stem and branch of that palace. So on the same day, one two-hour period later moves the Life Palace by one, and the main star and bureau can both change. The twelve hours of a single day usually produce several different types.
What is the Five Elements Bureau?
The Five Elements Bureau is the Nayin element of your Life Palace stem and branch: Water 2, Wood 3, Metal 4, Earth 5 or Fire 6. The number places the Zi Wei star on the chart and is also the age your first 10-year period begins (2 for Water, 6 for Fire). A bigger number is not better or worse; Xingge reads the element as a flavour of the same persona.
How is this different from MBTI?
MBTI comes from a questionnaire about how you see yourself. An Xingge type comes from your birth date and time, with nothing to answer, and the same birth details always give the same type. They work well side by side: MBTI describes your current habits, the chart describes your underlying nature and the rhythm of your life.
Which type do I get if my Life Palace has two main stars?
When two main stars share the Life Palace, the one listed first (in the order of the Zi Wei and Tian Fu star groups) sets the persona, the same as on your chart page. A Life Palace with no main star is the Empty Palace: the Traveler.
A type looks only at the Life Palace and the bureau: the roughest outline of a chart. People of the same type differ in the Body Palace, the surrounding palaces and the transformations.
