Qi Sha at Miao meets challenging stars.

Stars
Qi Sha NatureYou have drive and nerve, the boldness of the General Star. Before you charge ahead, know your way back.
Qi Sha at MiaoYou act with boldness and calculation, and once you see your chance you charge. Once your temper flares, it's hard to rein in.
Life Master Lu CunDeep down you want stability and value security and practicality. Holding steady is a skill; do not let it keep you from moving. Your Life Master sits in your Career Palace, so your thoughts often circle around work.
Patterns
Sha Po Lang (Killings, Breaker, Wolf)Your Life Palace sits on the Sha Po Lang line: life moves in big swings and you rarely sit still. Change is your fuel, but always leave yourself a way back.Classic pattern
Qi Sha Chao Dou (Seven Killings Faces the Dipper)Qi Sha in Yin or Shen holds your Life Palace, with Zi Wei and Tian Fu opposite: your drive has direction, and when you go all in, you earn your place.Classic pattern
Helpful TrinesSan Fang Si Zheng brings in Zuo Fu, Wen Qu, You Bi and Wen Chang: you have help and resources in your own life, more than this palace alone suggests.
This part follows the Flying Star school: where this palace's stem sends its transformations. It is a different method from the classical reading above.
Lu to SiblingsThe palace stem sends Tian Liang Hua Lu into your Siblings Palace: when things go well here, the benefits show up with your peers too.
Ji to FortuneYou often wrestle with your own thoughts and think a lot. Find something that lets you switch off.
Minor Stars
Gu ChenYou are good at being alone and used to working through things by yourself. When someone asks how you are, try telling the truth.
Tian GuanYou have good fortune and standing, and people often look after you and treat you with respect. Cherish it; do not take it for granted.
JueThings often break off and then reconnect. When you are stuck, set it aside for a while; the turn usually comes later.

The Life Palace is about: Who you are at the core: your temperament and innate makeup. Every chart reading starts here.

Where the chart lines up

Writing Swiss life without embellishment

Many of Spyri's works take a critical, unembellished look at Switzerland and at people's living conditions in the era of early industrialisation; the lives of children and young women were especially close to her heart. Her chart shows Qi Sha (Miao) in the Life Palace. Qi Sha is often read as a direct, straightforward character that does not go the long way round. Her writing plainly about how people lived is worth setting side by side with this star.

Heidi within nominal ages 44–53

In 1871 Spyri's first story was published in Bremen; in 1878 came her first children's book, Heimathlos; and shortly before Christmas 1879 the first part of Heidi appeared and was an immediate success. In her chart, the Decade Luck for nominal ages 44–53 (1870–1879) places the decade's Life Palace in her natal Career Palace. The Career Palace stands for career and work, and these ten years, from her first story to Heidi, line up with this palace.

A pastor friend encourages her to write

Cornelius Rudolph Vietor, pastor of the Church of Our Lady in Bremen, was a friend of the Spyri family; he often stayed in Zürich and even sent his daughters to live with the Spyris for a year. He was the first to encourage Spyri to write, and he arranged for several of her edifying stories to be printed and published in Bremen. Her chart shows Tian Ji (Xian) with Hua Ke (Transformation of Fame) in the Friends Palace. The Friends Palace stands for friends, and Hua Ke is literary renown: a friend pushing her towards writing lines up with this position.
