What the Fire 6 · Zi Wei type is like

Put clay in the kiln and keep the fire going, and its shape sets fast. A Fire 6 Zi Wei is often pushed to the front sooner than their peers: noticed early, and expected of early.

Zi Wei meets the Fire 6 Bureau

Fire produces Earth, so here the bureau feeds the star: the Fire 6 flame keeps feeding Zi Wei's Earth, and openings, stages and backing from elders tend to arrive before they feel ready. In Fire 6, Zi Wei is spread evenly across the twelve branches, with plenty of people in every one. Of the six forms, Zi Wei alone is slightly less common at 15%, and the five pairings, with Tian Fu, Tan Lang, Qi Sha, Tian Xiang and Po Jun, each sit near 17%. Half the time the star is Prosperous (Wang), 25% of the time at Temple (Miao), 17% at Gain (De), and in Zi, under 10%, it is Average (Ping).

Work and money

Fire bakes clay into brick, and this Zi Wei takes shape fast under pressure. They suit work with a stage and a deadline: the night before a launch, the end-of-quarter push, being called in to fight a fire. That is when they are clearest. The Complete Book says Zi Wei “in every palace sends down blessings and can dispel a hundred evils,” and in Fire 6 that often shows up as a talent for clean-up: hand them what others call a mess, and it may well start to turn. Money arrives early; make a habit of firing part of the income into brick, assets that stay put.

Love and getting along

In love they are warm and take the lead, eager to bring a partner into their whole world: friends, colleagues, family, nobody left out. Being pushed along by their surroundings, they tend to move fast in relationships too, talking about moving in after three months. A partner who wants to go slower can name their own pace and set a date to look back on things together, and the two of them end up firing at the same temperature.

When things get stuck

Overheat the kiln and the clay cracks. Carried along by expectation, so busy they forget what they actually want, this type shows the warning signs in a shorter temper, poor sleep and impatience with small things. The fix is not more fuel but cooling down: step out of one or two roles that are not needed, and spend a while answerable only to themselves.

The rhythm of the 10-year periods

A Fire 6 Zi Wei's periods start at age 6 (counted the traditional way), and the first, 6 to 15, is the Life Palace itself, just as they first join group life, with the period resting on their own palace. After 16 the periods run forward or backward according to the yin-yang of the birth year and the person's sex, changing again at 26 and 36. For someone so often pushed forward by their surroundings, it helps to remember which steps they chose and which they were pushed into. That makes it harder to burn out on other people's expectations.

Where it comes from in Purple Star Astrology

In this type Zi Wei leads the Life Palace. The Life Palace is the one of twelve that says who you are, and its main star sets your base color; when two main stars share it, the first one counts.

The bureau is the Fire 6 Bureau. The Five Elements Bureau comes from the Nayin of your Life Palace stem and branch; it places the Zi Wei star on the chart and sets the age your first 10-year period starts, which is 6 for this bureau. No bureau is better than another; Xingge reads it as a flavour of the same persona.

FAQ

Zi Wei “can restrain Huo Xing and Ling Xing.” Does that have anything to do with Fire 6?

No. The Complete Book says Zi Wei “can restrain Huo Xing and Ling Xing into goodness”: those are two malefic stars, and the line means Zi Wei can soften their impact. The Fire 6 Bureau is worked out from the heavenly stem and earthly branch of the Life Palace through the Nayin elements. Both have fire in the name, but they are not the same thing.

With the Life Palace in Zi, Zi Wei is Average (Ping). Is that a weak Zi Wei?

No. Volume three of the Complete Book lists Zi Wei's brightness as “Miao in Chou, Wei and Wu; Wang in Yin, Shen, Mao, You, Si and Hai; Ping in Zi; it has no fallen position.” In none of the twelve palaces is it Fallen; The line does not list Chen or Xu; the chart marks those as Gain (De), following the table in volume two. Average in Zi is its lowest level and still a balanced one. Zi is midnight, and an emperor star at midnight does not throw its light outward: it works more behind the scenes, with less display, and thinks longer before deciding. About 7% of Fire 6 Zi Wei are in Zi, and it is simply another way of running the house.

How common is the Fire 6 · Zi Wei type?

Out of 262,980 charts cast for every day and every two-hour period from 1950–2009, 4,386 have Zi Wei leading the Life Palace and the Fire 6 Bureau: about 1.7%, roughly 1 in 60 people. Every day and hour is counted equally, so this is not the actual birth distribution of a population.

Why can two people born on the same day be different types?

Where your Life Palace falls depends on your birth month and birth hour, and your Five Elements Bureau comes from the stem and branch of that palace. So on the same day, one two-hour period later moves the Life Palace by one, and the main star and bureau can both change. The twelve hours of a single day usually produce several different types.

What is the Five Elements Bureau?

The Five Elements Bureau is the Nayin element of your Life Palace stem and branch: Water 2, Wood 3, Metal 4, Earth 5 or Fire 6. The number places the Zi Wei star on the chart and is also the age your first 10-year period begins (2 for Water, 6 for Fire). A bigger number is not better or worse; Xingge reads the element as a flavour of the same persona.

How is this different from MBTI?

MBTI comes from a questionnaire about how you see yourself. An Xingge type comes from your birth date and time, with nothing to answer, and the same birth details always give the same type. They work well side by side: MBTI describes your current habits, the chart describes your underlying nature and the rhythm of your life.

Which type do I get if my Life Palace has two main stars?

When two main stars share the Life Palace, the one listed first (in the order of the Zi Wei and Tian Fu star groups) sets the persona, the same as on your chart page. A Life Palace with no main star is the Empty Palace: the Traveler.

A type looks only at the Life Palace and the bureau: the roughest outline of a chart. People of the same type differ in the Body Palace, the surrounding palaces and the transformations.
