What the Fire 6 · Po Jun type is like
When a wildfire comes over the hill, the first thing firefighters do is cut down a row of trees to open a firebreak. When a Fire 6 Po Jun tears something down, it is often to stop the fire spreading further.
Po Jun meets the Fire 6 Bureau
Water puts out Fire, so here the star keeps the bureau in check: Po Jun is Water, the Fire 6 Bureau is Fire, and Po Jun's water faces the bureau's fire. In this bureau Po Jun does not tear down for its own sake but to cut losses: a project in flames, a relationship out of control, a business leaking money. They know which part to cut away so the rest survives. The first volume's entry on Po Jun says “Whenever it sits in a person's Body or Life Palace in Zi or Wu, with Tan Lang and Qi Sha embracing it, its might shakes China and the foreign peoples.” The ancients saw Po Jun in Zi or Wu, with Tan Lang and Qi Sha shining in from the trine, as a pattern of far-reaching renown; about 34% of this type sit in Zi or Wu, which a Xingge chart marks as Ying Xing Ru Miao (Hero Star in Its Temple). Xu and Zi are the most common palaces at about 21% each, with little difference among the rest.
Work and money
They are the person you call in a crisis: stopping the bleeding when a company is in trouble, scaling back when a project spins out of control, rebuilding after a system collapse. They do not mind being the bad guy, cutting budgets, projects or features, as long as the whole survives. In ordinary times they can get restless, and a setting that is too calm makes them feel useless. With money they are excellent at cutting losses and drop a losing investment decisively. What they need to practise is saving when nothing is on fire, rather than thinking about money only in a crisis.
Love and getting along
In love they are the one who calls a halt in an argument: “Let's stop for now and talk tomorrow.” They know that words past a certain point burn beyond saving, and they would rather open a firebreak first. A partner may find them cold, but they are protecting the relationship. They need someone who understands that “stop first,” and they in turn should remember to come back and finish the conversation once things have cooled.
When things get stuck
Open too many firebreaks and there is no forest left. Used to solving crises by cutting, they can end up wanting to take an axe to places that are not even burning. A question helps: is this really on fire, or just a little warm? The other thing is their own fire. Always putting out other people's, they can damp down their own enthusiasm too. Finding something that simply lights them up, with nothing to extinguish, keeps that fire alive.
The rhythm of the 10-year periods
Fire 6 runs on a slightly slower clock: only at age 6 (counted the traditional way) does the life period enter the Life Palace where Po Jun sits, with changes at 16, 26 and 36. For a Po Jun who shines in a crisis, the slower rhythm has an upside. By the start of each period they have usually seen plenty of other people's fires start and get put out. There is no need to rush to prove themselves at a change: first watch where this period's fire is, then decide where to cut the firebreak.

Where it comes from in Purple Star Astrology
In this type Po Jun leads the Life Palace. The Life Palace is the one of twelve that says who you are, and its main star sets your base color; when two main stars share it, the first one counts.
The bureau is the Fire 6 Bureau. The Five Elements Bureau comes from the Nayin of your Life Palace stem and branch; it places the Zi Wei star on the chart and sets the age your first 10-year period starts, which is 6 for this bureau. No bureau is better than another; Xingge reads it as a flavour of the same persona.

FAQ
A Fire 6 Po Jun most often sits in Xu. How should that position be read?
Po Jun in Xu is Prosperous (Wang), with Zi Wei and Tian Xiang opposite. Zi Wei is the emperor star and Tian Xiang the seal star, a pair of order-minded stars across the way, so Po Jun here tears down with more restraint: it breaks things so that order can stand up again. About 21% of this type sit in Xu. It is not Zi or Wu, so it does not count as Ying Xing Ru Miao, but a Prosperous Po Jun still has a powerful drive for change.
How does a Fire 6 Po Jun save money?
They are good at cutting losses in a crisis but often forget to save when things are calm. What works best is treating saving as another firebreak: move a fixed sum each month into an account they cannot touch, which keeps an escape route ready for the next fire. Then, the next time they are needed, they will not be fighting the blaze and worrying about their own living at the same time.
How common is the Fire 6 · Po Jun type?
Out of 262,980 charts cast for every day and every two-hour period from 1950–2009, 2,159 have Po Jun leading the Life Palace and the Fire 6 Bureau: about 0.8%, roughly 1 in 122 people. Every day and hour is counted equally, so this is not the actual birth distribution of a population.
Why can two people born on the same day be different types?
Where your Life Palace falls depends on your birth month and birth hour, and your Five Elements Bureau comes from the stem and branch of that palace. So on the same day, one two-hour period later moves the Life Palace by one, and the main star and bureau can both change. The twelve hours of a single day usually produce several different types.
What is the Five Elements Bureau?
The Five Elements Bureau is the Nayin element of your Life Palace stem and branch: Water 2, Wood 3, Metal 4, Earth 5 or Fire 6. The number places the Zi Wei star on the chart and is also the age your first 10-year period begins (2 for Water, 6 for Fire). A bigger number is not better or worse; Xingge reads the element as a flavour of the same persona.
How is this different from MBTI?
MBTI comes from a questionnaire about how you see yourself. An Xingge type comes from your birth date and time, with nothing to answer, and the same birth details always give the same type. They work well side by side: MBTI describes your current habits, the chart describes your underlying nature and the rhythm of your life.
Which type do I get if my Life Palace has two main stars?
When two main stars share the Life Palace, the one listed first (in the order of the Zi Wei and Tian Fu star groups) sets the persona, the same as on your chart page. A Life Palace with no main star is the Empty Palace: the Traveler.
A type looks only at the Life Palace and the bureau: the roughest outline of a chart. People of the same type differ in the Body Palace, the surrounding palaces and the transformations.
