A 1964 book against de Gaulle
In 1964 Mitterrand published Le Coup d'État permanent, which criticised de Gaulle's personal power, the weakness of Parliament and of the government, and the President's exclusive control of foreign affairs and defence, and it reinforced his position as a left-wing opponent. His chart shows Wen Chang (De) with Hua Ke in the Life Palace. Wen Chang stands for documents and writing, and Hua Ke is reputation. Strengthening his place in opposition by writing a book fits this star.
Source ↗Focusing on foreign affairs under cohabitation
In 1986 the right won the parliamentary elections, and Mitterrand appointed Jacques Chirac prime minister, the first "Cohabitation" of the Fifth Republic. Chirac mostly handled domestic policy, while Mitterrand concentrated on his "reserved domain" of foreign affairs and defence. In his chart, in the Decade Luck for nominal ages 66–75 (1981–1990), the decade's Four Transformations put Wu Qu (De) with Hua Quan (Transformation of Power) in his natal Travel Palace. The Travel Palace stands for going out and dealing with the outside world, and Hua Quan is taking the lead; his directing foreign affairs in these years matches this decade.
