What the Fire 6 · Wu Qu type is like

Iron has to go into the fire before it can be made into a blade. A Fire 6 Wu Qu is hammered by the heat of their surroundings all the way through, and what comes out is resilience and real skill.

Wu Qu meets the Fire 6 Bureau

Fire melts Metal, so here the bureau works on the star: the Fire of Fire 6 keeps forging this metal, and this Wu Qu often takes shape under pressure. The six pairings are evenly spread: Wu Qu with Qi Sha, with Po Jun, alone, with Tian Fu and with Tan Lang at about 17% each, and with Tian Xiang at about 15%. The You, Xu, Hai, Zi and Chou branches are the most frequent. Temple (Miao) is about 34%, covering Wu Qu alone in Chen or Xu and Wu Qu with Tan Lang in Chou or Wei (the chart marks Tan Wu Tong Xing only for the Chou and Wei pairing; the old books also read Wu Qu and Tan Lang facing each other across Chen and Xu, which is yours to check); Profit (Li), Average (Ping) and Prosperous (Wang) are about 17% each, and Gain (De) about 15%.

Work and money

A rhyme in the Complete Book says “Wu Qu in its temple: an awe-inspiring name, brilliant and grand.” About 34% of Fire 6 Wu Qu are at Temple, and metal that has been through the fire shines especially bright. This type's authority is mostly not inborn; it is earned by carrying pressure again and again: the project with an impossible deadline, the understaffed branch, the mess nobody else will take. They suit high-pressure work with clear results: site engineering, logistics for emergency response, sales-driven teams. They earn through ability and can carry a lot of risk; the money spent during the forging years mostly buys tools and experience.

Love and getting along

In love they are direct, say what they think, and anger comes fast. People shaped by Fire melting Metal are used to being worked hard, and sometimes bring the same intensity to a partner; what a partner needs is understanding, not hammering. After an argument they tend to make up through action: cooking dinner, filling the other's car with petrol.

When things get stuck

Iron heated too long turns brittle: carry the pressure too long and they grow irritable and impatient, until even what they do best goes wrong. The answer is not to push on but to step out of the fire for a while: take leave, change the scene, let the metal cool, and the resilience returns.

The rhythm of the 10-year periods

Fire 6 starts its periods latest of the five bureaus, and a Wu Qu here only enters the first 10-year period at age 6 (counted the traditional way), with 6 to 15 in the Life Palace. At 16 the period leaves the Life Palace, changing again at 26 and 36. Forging takes time, and a late-starting Wu Qu has no need to compare progress with anyone. Each change of period is like going back into the forge, and what comes out often has a keener edge.

Where it comes from in Purple Star Astrology

In this type Wu Qu leads the Life Palace. The Life Palace is the one of twelve that says who you are, and its main star sets your base color; when two main stars share it, the first one counts.

The bureau is the Fire 6 Bureau. The Five Elements Bureau comes from the Nayin of your Life Palace stem and branch; it places the Zi Wei star on the chart and sets the age your first 10-year period starts, which is 6 for this bureau. No bureau is better than another; Xingge reads it as a flavour of the same persona.

FAQ

Does Fire melting Metal mean a harder life?

A different kind of hard. Fire melting Metal means the surroundings make demands and apply pressure, and this type often shows its ability when tested. Master Xiyi says Wu Qu “fears being restrained and falling,” but Wu Qu has no Fallen position in any of the twelve palaces; its lowest is Average (Ping), and about 34% of Fire 6 Wu Qu are at Temple. Here the pressure is forging, not breaking; look after rest, and the resilience stays.

What is a Wu Qu with Qi Sha person like?

Wu Qu with Qi Sha always sits in Mao or You, at Profit (Li), with Tian Fu in the opposite palace. Qi Sha's charge plus Wu Qu's execution makes for decisive, fast action, with Tian Fu across the chart supplying a solid base. About 17% of Fire 6 Wu Qu have this pairing. They are often the ones on the front line of a team; working out the way back before charging is what lets them draw on that base.

How common is the Fire 6 · Wu Qu type?

Out of 262,980 charts cast for every day and every two-hour period from 1950–2009, 4,388 have Wu Qu leading the Life Palace and the Fire 6 Bureau: about 1.7%, roughly 1 in 60 people. Every day and hour is counted equally, so this is not the actual birth distribution of a population.

Why can two people born on the same day be different types?

Where your Life Palace falls depends on your birth month and birth hour, and your Five Elements Bureau comes from the stem and branch of that palace. So on the same day, one two-hour period later moves the Life Palace by one, and the main star and bureau can both change. The twelve hours of a single day usually produce several different types.

What is the Five Elements Bureau?

The Five Elements Bureau is the Nayin element of your Life Palace stem and branch: Water 2, Wood 3, Metal 4, Earth 5 or Fire 6. The number places the Zi Wei star on the chart and is also the age your first 10-year period begins (2 for Water, 6 for Fire). A bigger number is not better or worse; Xingge reads the element as a flavour of the same persona.

How is this different from MBTI?

MBTI comes from a questionnaire about how you see yourself. An Xingge type comes from your birth date and time, with nothing to answer, and the same birth details always give the same type. They work well side by side: MBTI describes your current habits, the chart describes your underlying nature and the rhythm of your life.

Which type do I get if my Life Palace has two main stars?

When two main stars share the Life Palace, the one listed first (in the order of the Zi Wei and Tian Fu star groups) sets the persona, the same as on your chart page. A Life Palace with no main star is the Empty Palace: the Traveler.

A type looks only at the Life Palace and the bureau: the roughest outline of a chart. People of the same type differ in the Body Palace, the surrounding palaces and the transformations.
