Leaving an old society to found a new one
In 1909, increasingly dissatisfied with the political conservatism and lack of methodological rigor of the Verein für Socialpolitik, Weber co-founded the German Sociological Association and served as its first treasurer. His Life Palace holds Po Jun (Ping) with Hua Quan. Po Jun is often read as opening new ground, and Hua Quan means taking the lead. Founding a new association with others when the existing one fell short is worth setting side by side with it.
Source ↗The Politics as a Vocation lecture
On January 28, 1919, at the invitation of the Free Student Youth, Weber delivered the lecture Politics as a Vocation, near the end of which he described politics as "a slow, powerful drilling through hard boards". The date falls before the 1919 Lunar New Year (February 1), so the annual chart still counts it as 1918, at nominal age 55. In the annual Four Transformations of 1918, Tan Lang (Li) takes Hua Lu (Transformation of Wealth) and enters his natal Career Palace. The Career Palace covers work, and Hua Lu stands for gains, which lines up with this lecture.
Source ↗The 1904 trip to America
In 1904 Weber, his wife, Werner Sombart, Ernst Troeltsch and other German scholars attended the Congress of Arts and Sciences at the World's Fair in St. Louis, and took the chance to travel the United States for almost three months, visiting German immigrant towns and African American communities to learn about American society, economy and religion and how they related to his arguments. His Travel Palace contains Wen Chang (Li). The Travel Palace covers going out, and Wen Chang is a star of study and learning, which lines up with a journey taken with research in hand.
