What the Earth 5 · Wu Qu type is like
Gold buried in the ground is gold the ground has grown. An Earth 5 Wu Qu has their surroundings at their back, and resources, connections and family footing are often part of their strength.
Wu Qu meets the Earth 5 Bureau
Earth produces Metal, so here the bureau feeds the star. The Earth of Earth 5 keeps nourishing Wu Qu's Metal, and this Wu Qu has solid ground to stand on. The six pairings are evenly spread: Wu Qu with Tan Lang, with Tian Fu, with Po Jun, alone and with Tian Xiang at about 17% each, and with Qi Sha at about 15%. The Zi and Yin branches are the most frequent: in Zi it is Wu Qu with Tian Fu, in Yin Wu Qu with Tian Xiang. Temple (Miao) is about 34%, Prosperous (Wang), Average (Ping) and Gain (De) about 17% each, and Profit (Li) about 15%.
Work and money
Master Xiyi says that for Wu Qu “the Wealth and Property Palaces are its special charge”: money and property are its own domain. Surroundings where Earth feeds Metal make this type especially good at putting money into land: property, shopfronts, assets that pay rent, or a family business handed down through generations. They suit work that relies on stable resources: real estate, banking, running a family firm, finance in a large organisation. With money they prefer long-term holdings backed by something physical, and support from family is capital they put to careful use.
Love and getting along
In love they are steady and family-minded. People with Earth feeding Metal are usually closely tied to the family they grew up in, and when they date, their family's opinion carries weight. A partner does not need to compete with that family for a place. Joining in, sharing a few meals, is something they notice and remember.
When things get stuck
Ore only learns how bright it is once it leaves the ground: without the support of family or an organisation, they may not know at first what they can do on their own. Try one small thing that depends entirely on themselves, a side project, a solo trip. Knowing they can shine out of the ground makes them steadier when they return to it.
The rhythm of the 10-year periods
An Earth 5 Wu Qu's periods start at age 5 (counted the traditional way), with 5 to 14 in the Life Palace. After 15 the periods move outward one palace at a time, changing at 25 and 35, in a direction set by the yin-yang of the birth year and the person's sex. The time around each change is often when this type takes stock: of the contacts and savings built in the last period, which can come along and which stay behind. Take stock first, then set out, and the new period has soil to grow in.

Where it comes from in Purple Star Astrology
In this type Wu Qu leads the Life Palace. The Life Palace is the one of twelve that says who you are, and its main star sets your base color; when two main stars share it, the first one counts.
The bureau is the Earth 5 Bureau. The Five Elements Bureau comes from the Nayin of your Life Palace stem and branch; it places the Zi Wei star on the chart and sets the age your first 10-year period starts, which is 5 for this bureau. No bureau is better than another; Xingge reads it as a flavour of the same persona.

FAQ
Where does an Earth 5 Wu Qu shine at work?
In positions with resources to deploy: real estate, banking, family businesses, the person who holds the budget in an organisation. With Earth feeding Metal, they are strongest with a system behind them. They can start from nothing and go it alone, but it takes extra effort to find the foundations.
Does an Earth 5 Wu Qu get along with a Tian Fu person?
Often, yes. Tian Fu is the treasury and Wu Qu is wealth, and Master Xiyi lists Tian Fu as one of Wu Qu's deputy stars, so the two often see money the same way: steady, with something solid underneath. Both lean cautious and can miss risks worth taking, so now and then take turns: one proposes, and the other may only answer “let's try it.”
How common is the Earth 5 · Wu Qu type?
Out of 262,980 charts cast for every day and every two-hour period from 1950–2009, 4,379 have Wu Qu leading the Life Palace and the Earth 5 Bureau: about 1.7%, roughly 1 in 60 people. Every day and hour is counted equally, so this is not the actual birth distribution of a population.
Why can two people born on the same day be different types?
Where your Life Palace falls depends on your birth month and birth hour, and your Five Elements Bureau comes from the stem and branch of that palace. So on the same day, one two-hour period later moves the Life Palace by one, and the main star and bureau can both change. The twelve hours of a single day usually produce several different types.
What is the Five Elements Bureau?
The Five Elements Bureau is the Nayin element of your Life Palace stem and branch: Water 2, Wood 3, Metal 4, Earth 5 or Fire 6. The number places the Zi Wei star on the chart and is also the age your first 10-year period begins (2 for Water, 6 for Fire). A bigger number is not better or worse; Xingge reads the element as a flavour of the same persona.
How is this different from MBTI?
MBTI comes from a questionnaire about how you see yourself. An Xingge type comes from your birth date and time, with nothing to answer, and the same birth details always give the same type. They work well side by side: MBTI describes your current habits, the chart describes your underlying nature and the rhythm of your life.
Which type do I get if my Life Palace has two main stars?
When two main stars share the Life Palace, the one listed first (in the order of the Zi Wei and Tian Fu star groups) sets the persona, the same as on your chart page. A Life Palace with no main star is the Empty Palace: the Traveler.
A type looks only at the Life Palace and the bureau: the roughest outline of a chart. People of the same type differ in the Body Palace, the surrounding palaces and the transformations.
