Choosing a doctoral topic to become an astronaut

Aldrin did his doctorate at MIT, choosing guidance techniques for crewed orbital rendezvous in the hope that it would help him be selected as an astronaut, even though it meant forgoing test pilot training, then a prerequisite. He dedicated the thesis to the crews of the space program, writing: "If only I could join them in their exciting endeavors!" In his chart, the Life Palace holds Wu Qu (Wang) with Hua Lu.
