What the Earth 5 · Qi Sha type is like
Scorched wasteland grows crops the following spring. When an Earth 5 Qi Sha charges, it is so that something will grow and stay.
Qi Sha meets the Earth 5 Bureau
When Qi Sha sits alone in the Life Palace, Tian Fu is always in the opposite palace: with Wu Qu for Zi and Wu, with Zi Wei for Yin and Shen, with Lian Zhen for Chen and Xu. Tian Fu is Earth, the treasury star of the old texts, and in the Earth 5 Bureau the sense of a storehouse facing them is especially vivid. Qi Sha is Fire and the bureau is Earth; Fire produces Earth, so here the star feeds the bureau. Qi Sha's fire clears the wild ground, the ash becomes nourishment, and the bureau turns it into a field that can be farmed. That is why this Qi Sha does not just charge and leave, but works out how to make the gains last. They most often sit in Wu or Chen, which together make up more than half, and Chen is itself an Earth position; Zi and Xu are both rare.
Work and money
They suit work where clearing new ground is followed by running it: opening a new site, building a new plant, taking a new business from zero to the point where it runs on its own. Unlike most Qi Sha, they care not only about taking the ground but about whether someone can carry it on and whether it will last. Money is the same. They will take risks, but the point of the risk is to turn it into something that stays: a shop, a plot of land, a loyal customer base.
Love and getting along
In love they give the sense that being with them means having somewhere to live: they practically lay down a foundation for the two of them, then guard it. Their fire burns outside, and at home they are quiet. A partner should appreciate that quiet, and they should remember now and then to bring a little of the outside heat home and go on an adventure together.
When things get stuck
Once the fire has burned, the land still needs farming. They tend to get stuck at one of two ends. Some only want to clear ground, and once a patch is burned they head for the next, leaving fields nobody tends. Others do the opposite, guarding what they have won for so long that they forget they were the trailblazer. Knowing which stage they are in, and handing over or setting out when the time comes, keeps things moving.
The rhythm of the 10-year periods
The second volume has a verse on Qi Sha in the luck periods: “Though the two luck periods meet Qi Sha, if one is calm and easy the family fortune rises. With Tian Fu in the opposite palace coming straight to pay court, an official who meets it becomes famous and eminent.” For this type the first period is the Life Palace where Qi Sha sits, beginning at age 5 (counted the traditional way), with Tian Fu always opposite. The ancients' advice was calm: what Qi Sha needs most is not more speed but a little room inside the speed. The later changes come at 15, 25 and 35.

Where it comes from in Purple Star Astrology
In this type Qi Sha leads the Life Palace. The Life Palace is the one of twelve that says who you are, and its main star sets your base color; when two main stars share it, the first one counts.
The bureau is the Earth 5 Bureau. The Five Elements Bureau comes from the Nayin of your Life Palace stem and branch; it places the Zi Wei star on the chart and sets the age your first 10-year period starts, which is 5 for this bureau. No bureau is better than another; Xingge reads it as a flavour of the same persona.

FAQ
With Qi Sha in the Life Palace, Tian Fu is always opposite. What does that mean?
When Qi Sha sits alone in the Life Palace, the opposite palace, the Travel Palace, always holds Tian Fu, paired with one of Zi Wei, Wu Qu or Lian Zhen. Tian Fu is the treasury star, in charge of storing and keeping; while Qi Sha charges ahead, a storehouse stands ready across the way. The second volume speaks of “Tian Fu in the opposite palace coming straight to pay court,” and the ancients saw this as a good pairing. In Earth 5, the feeling of having somewhere to put what is won is especially strong.
What work suits an Earth 5 Qi Sha?
Work that starts from zero but has to end up running for the long haul: launching new businesses or branches, construction and development, farming or regional revitalisation, expanding a franchise network, a second generation transforming the family firm. The key is seeing the ground they cleared actually grow something. A role where they only charge and others keep the results feels like half a job.
How common is the Earth 5 · Qi Sha type?
Out of 262,980 charts cast for every day and every two-hour period from 1950–2009, 2,226 have Qi Sha leading the Life Palace and the Earth 5 Bureau: about 0.8%, roughly 1 in 118 people. Every day and hour is counted equally, so this is not the actual birth distribution of a population.
Why can two people born on the same day be different types?
Where your Life Palace falls depends on your birth month and birth hour, and your Five Elements Bureau comes from the stem and branch of that palace. So on the same day, one two-hour period later moves the Life Palace by one, and the main star and bureau can both change. The twelve hours of a single day usually produce several different types.
What is the Five Elements Bureau?
The Five Elements Bureau is the Nayin element of your Life Palace stem and branch: Water 2, Wood 3, Metal 4, Earth 5 or Fire 6. The number places the Zi Wei star on the chart and is also the age your first 10-year period begins (2 for Water, 6 for Fire). A bigger number is not better or worse; Xingge reads the element as a flavour of the same persona.
How is this different from MBTI?
MBTI comes from a questionnaire about how you see yourself. An Xingge type comes from your birth date and time, with nothing to answer, and the same birth details always give the same type. They work well side by side: MBTI describes your current habits, the chart describes your underlying nature and the rhythm of your life.
Which type do I get if my Life Palace has two main stars?
When two main stars share the Life Palace, the one listed first (in the order of the Zi Wei and Tian Fu star groups) sets the persona, the same as on your chart page. A Life Palace with no main star is the Empty Palace: the Traveler.
A type looks only at the Life Palace and the bureau: the roughest outline of a chart. People of the same type differ in the Body Palace, the surrounding palaces and the transformations.
