What the Water 2 · Qi Sha type is like
People meeting a Water 2 Qi Sha for the first time think they are cold; those who have worked with them know it is fire that has been quenched in water. When they want to charge, they pause for three seconds first and watch which way the water is flowing.
Qi Sha meets the Water 2 Bureau
Qi Sha is Fire and the Water 2 Bureau is Water. Water puts out Fire, so here the bureau keeps the star in check. The bureau's water does not drown the fire; it adds discipline. The drive is all there, but they calculate before they move. The Life Palace most often falls in Shen, close to 28%, and with Yin added, Yin and Shen together pass 41%, the most of any bureau; Wu is about 17%, and Zi, Chen, Yin and Xu about 14% each. Qi Sha sitting alone is never Fallen, and in this bureau nearly 69% sit at Temple (Miao) brightness, the rest at Prosperous (Wang). In Yin or Shen the opposite palace holds Zi Wei and Tian Fu. A verse in the Complete Book says “Qi Sha in the Yin, Shen, Zi or Wu palace: the foreign peoples on all four sides bow to the hero.” The ancients saw Qi Sha in these places as a commander everyone would follow; today it reads as someone with a clear direction who can fight their way to a real position.
Work and money
Their strength is the prepared charge. The second volume says that Qi Sha “in a Miao or Wang position has strategy,” and Water 2 turns that side up: they study the terrain, work out supplies, plan the retreat, then go in once and get it done. Where a call has to be made and mistakes are not allowed, crisis negotiations, acquisitions, restructuring, they are often the one sent in. With money they will place big bets, but only after thorough homework, rarely on a whim.
Love and getting along
In love their heat sits beneath the calm. They do not say sweet things much, but when the partner is in trouble they are often first on the scene, sorting it out. They need someone who can read that kind of silence. Their own practice is to say out loud the three seconds they usually keep inside: “I was just thinking this might make things easier for you.”
When things get stuck
Water pressing on fire for too long leaves it smouldering. They tend to pack their feelings away until one day it all bursts out, startling everyone and leaving them regretful. Giving the fire a regular outlet works better: training, climbing, a contest that takes everything they have, somewhere for that force to go. The opposite risk is calculating so thoroughly that they never move, and the chance slips through their fingers.
The rhythm of the 10-year periods
Qi Sha's drive arrives early in Water 2: the first 10-year period begins at age 2 (counted the traditional way), starting in the Life Palace where Qi Sha sits, and moves on at 12, 22 and 32. The drive comes early and so does Water's discipline, and many of this type say they understood very young that what they wanted they would have to go and get, but only after working out how. Every decade brings a new battlefield, and that calm is the kit they carry through all of them.

Where it comes from in Purple Star Astrology
In this type Qi Sha leads the Life Palace. The Life Palace is the one of twelve that says who you are, and its main star sets your base color; when two main stars share it, the first one counts.
The bureau is the Water 2 Bureau. The Five Elements Bureau comes from the Nayin of your Life Palace stem and branch; it places the Zi Wei star on the chart and sets the age your first 10-year period starts, which is 2 for this bureau. No bureau is better than another; Xingge reads it as a flavour of the same persona.

FAQ
Does a Water 2 Qi Sha get along with a Tian Fu person?
Qi Sha and Tian Fu always face each other on the chart: wherever Qi Sha sits, Tian Fu is in the opposite palace. A Water 2 Qi Sha is good at calculating and then charging, Tian Fu at guarding the rear, so together one attacks and the other minds the reserves, and rarely do both ends fall short. The friction is timing: once Qi Sha has done the sums they want to move at once, while Tian Fu wants to check the books one more time. Agree on a latest date for deciding, and neither feels dragged or pushed.
A Water 2 Qi Sha seems cold. Are they hard to get close to?
Cold is the surface; underneath is fire. Water restraining Fire means they keep their feelings well in hand, so at first meeting they are often taken for difficult. Over time it becomes clear that their care lives in their actions. To get close, say what the matter is and what you need, plainly. What they dislike most is talking in circles.
How common is the Water 2 · Qi Sha type?
Out of 262,980 charts cast for every day and every two-hour period from 1950–2009, 2,153 have Qi Sha leading the Life Palace and the Water 2 Bureau: about 0.8%, roughly 1 in 122 people. Every day and hour is counted equally, so this is not the actual birth distribution of a population.
Why can two people born on the same day be different types?
Where your Life Palace falls depends on your birth month and birth hour, and your Five Elements Bureau comes from the stem and branch of that palace. So on the same day, one two-hour period later moves the Life Palace by one, and the main star and bureau can both change. The twelve hours of a single day usually produce several different types.
What is the Five Elements Bureau?
The Five Elements Bureau is the Nayin element of your Life Palace stem and branch: Water 2, Wood 3, Metal 4, Earth 5 or Fire 6. The number places the Zi Wei star on the chart and is also the age your first 10-year period begins (2 for Water, 6 for Fire). A bigger number is not better or worse; Xingge reads the element as a flavour of the same persona.
How is this different from MBTI?
MBTI comes from a questionnaire about how you see yourself. An Xingge type comes from your birth date and time, with nothing to answer, and the same birth details always give the same type. They work well side by side: MBTI describes your current habits, the chart describes your underlying nature and the rhythm of your life.
Which type do I get if my Life Palace has two main stars?
When two main stars share the Life Palace, the one listed first (in the order of the Zi Wei and Tian Fu star groups) sets the persona, the same as on your chart page. A Life Palace with no main star is the Empty Palace: the Traveler.
A type looks only at the Life Palace and the bureau: the roughest outline of a chart. People of the same type differ in the Body Palace, the surrounding palaces and the transformations.
