What the Water 2 · Tian Fu type is like
However much rain the wet season brings, a reservoir turns it into supplies for the dry months. A Water 2 Tian Fu is that reservoir: what slips through other people's hands stays put once it reaches them.
Tian Fu meets the Water 2 Bureau
Earth holds back Water, so here the star works on the bureau: Tian Fu, an Earth star, facing the Water of Water 2, is good at stopping what flows and storing it. This type is entirely Tian Fu alone; where Tian Fu shares a palace with Zi Wei, Wu Qu or Lian Zhen, it comes second and belongs to those types. With Tian Fu alone, the palace opposite is always Qi Sha: Lian Zhen with Qi Sha across from Chou or Wei, Wu Qu with Qi Sha across from Mao or You, Zi Wei with Qi Sha across from Si or Hai. About 40% of Water 2 Tian Fu sit in Chou or Wei at Temple (Miao), with Chou alone over 25%; Gain (De) accounts for close to 50%, and Prosperous (Wang), in You, is the least common.
Work and money
Master Xiyi says Tian Fu “takes the Property and Wealth Palaces as its joyful temples,” the places where it is most at home. In Water 2 the line becomes concrete: money and resources run back and forth like water, and they are the one who catches it. The household accounts, the company budget, the team's reserve fund do not leak in their hands. Finance, administration, asset management and property suit them. With money they like separate pools: everyday, reserve, long term, each with its own account; however fast the water comes, every pool knows its limit.
Love and getting along
In love they make people feel safe, and a home with them in it has order. With Earth holding back Water, they tend to catch a partner's feelings first and deal with them slowly, rarely clashing on the spot. A partner may sometimes wish they would say more about themselves. They have plenty of thoughts, kept at the bottom of the pool, and asking “what do you want?” often brings a very serious answer.
When things get stuck
A reservoir filled too full stops flowing: so afraid of loss that nothing gets touched, money left until it loses value, opportunities left until they expire. The other snag is catching everything themselves until even the embankment is tired. Set aside a sum each year that is meant to move, learning, travel, one investment they understand, and the reservoir stays alive.
The rhythm of the 10-year periods
Water 2 starts earliest, and a Tian Fu here begins the periods at age 2 (counted the traditional way), with the Life Palace in charge until 11. For a treasury star, that means starting early on saving up themselves: habits, a sense of security, trust in the world. After 12 the period leaves the Life Palace, changing at 22 and 32. Each period is a new pool, and what they saved earlier is the capital they draw on later.

Where it comes from in Purple Star Astrology
In this type Tian Fu leads the Life Palace. The Life Palace is the one of twelve that says who you are, and its main star sets your base color; when two main stars share it, the first one counts.
The bureau is the Water 2 Bureau. The Five Elements Bureau comes from the Nayin of your Life Palace stem and branch; it places the Zi Wei star on the chart and sets the age your first 10-year period starts, which is 2 for this bureau. No bureau is better than another; Xingge reads it as a flavour of the same persona.

FAQ
Why is the palace opposite a lone Tian Fu always Qi Sha?
The main stars move together in Zi Wei Dou Shu, and Qi Sha always sits six palaces on from Tian Fu, so a lone Tian Fu always faces Qi Sha; only the companion changes. Across from Chou or Wei it is Lian Zhen with Qi Sha, from Mao or You Wu Qu with Qi Sha, from Si or Hai Zi Wei with Qi Sha. About 40% of Water 2 Tian Fu are in Chou or Wei, so most face Lian Zhen with Qi Sha. In reading, Tian Fu guards and Qi Sha charges, watching each other across the chart, so this type can act when it counts as well as stay steady.
What is the Kong Ku mark when Tian Fu meets Di Kong or Di Jie?
On the Xingge chart, Tian Fu in the same palace as Di Kong or Di Jie is marked Kong Ku (Empty Treasury): a treasury star meeting the emptiness stars, so what is kept can be hollowed out. This is a later reading, not from the Complete Book. A Water 2 Tian Fu is already good at saving, and with this mark it pays to keep one sum entirely untouched. Keep money that moves apart from money that must not, and the emptiness cannot reach the core.
How common is the Water 2 · Tian Fu type?
Out of 262,980 charts cast for every day and every two-hour period from 1950–2009, 2,226 have Tian Fu leading the Life Palace and the Water 2 Bureau: about 0.8%, roughly 1 in 118 people. Every day and hour is counted equally, so this is not the actual birth distribution of a population.
Why can two people born on the same day be different types?
Where your Life Palace falls depends on your birth month and birth hour, and your Five Elements Bureau comes from the stem and branch of that palace. So on the same day, one two-hour period later moves the Life Palace by one, and the main star and bureau can both change. The twelve hours of a single day usually produce several different types.
What is the Five Elements Bureau?
The Five Elements Bureau is the Nayin element of your Life Palace stem and branch: Water 2, Wood 3, Metal 4, Earth 5 or Fire 6. The number places the Zi Wei star on the chart and is also the age your first 10-year period begins (2 for Water, 6 for Fire). A bigger number is not better or worse; Xingge reads the element as a flavour of the same persona.
How is this different from MBTI?
MBTI comes from a questionnaire about how you see yourself. An Xingge type comes from your birth date and time, with nothing to answer, and the same birth details always give the same type. They work well side by side: MBTI describes your current habits, the chart describes your underlying nature and the rhythm of your life.
Which type do I get if my Life Palace has two main stars?
When two main stars share the Life Palace, the one listed first (in the order of the Zi Wei and Tian Fu star groups) sets the persona, the same as on your chart page. A Life Palace with no main star is the Empty Palace: the Traveler.
A type looks only at the Life Palace and the bureau: the roughest outline of a chart. People of the same type differ in the Body Palace, the surrounding palaces and the transformations.
