What the Metal 4 · Tian Fu type is like

Some storehouses only take things in. A Metal 4 Tian Fu's does not: Earth produces Metal, so their treasury earns interest, and what they store often becomes tools and opportunities in other people's hands.

Tian Fu meets the Metal 4 Bureau

Earth produces Metal, so the star feeds the bureau: Tian Fu's Earth keeps producing in this bureau, with resources organised and then passed on. This type is Tian Fu alone only. Hai is the most common branch, over 25%; You and Chou are around 20% each, and Wei the least. Gain (De) is over 50%, Temple (Miao) in Chou or Wei under 30%, and Prosperous (Wang), in You, around 20%. Of the Qi Sha pairings opposite, Zi Wei with Qi Sha is the most common, because Si and Hai together come to nearly 40%.

Work and money

A rhyme in the Complete Book says “Tian Fu and Tian Xiang are spirits of clothing and income”: what they govern is the base that keeps life going. In Metal 4 that base grows outward. They are good at turning resources into systems: household money into an education fund, a company surplus into a training budget for staff. Financial planning, fund management, people development and finance in charities suit them. With money they let it move, but by the rules: in stages, on a schedule, only into what they understand.

Love and getting along

In love they are practical and generous, and like preparing a shared future: a joint account, insurance, learning a skill together. With Earth feeding Metal, what they give is often something to make you better, a course, a set of tools. A partner who just wants a hug can ask for one directly. They will be glad to; it may simply not occur to them.

When things get stuck

Keep the storehouse books too finely and nothing moves: every sum has to be named and ranked first, and when an opportunity arrives they are still waiting for budget approval. This type can put the system ahead of the moment. A small budget that needs no explaining lets them act at once when something worthwhile comes along.

The rhythm of the 10-year periods

A Metal 4 Tian Fu's first decade, from age 4 (counted the traditional way), is on the Life Palace, with changes after that at 14, 24 and 34. Around each handover this type often takes stock: which resources to take along, which to pass on, which to close out. A clear inventory means that when the new period begins, they know what is in the treasury to use.

Where it comes from in Purple Star Astrology

In this type Tian Fu leads the Life Palace. The Life Palace is the one of twelve that says who you are, and its main star sets your base color; when two main stars share it, the first one counts.

The bureau is the Metal 4 Bureau. The Five Elements Bureau comes from the Nayin of your Life Palace stem and branch; it places the Zi Wei star on the chart and sets the age your first 10-year period starts, which is 4 for this bureau. No bureau is better than another; Xingge reads it as a flavour of the same persona.

FAQ

Is a Tian Fu at Gain (De) a weaker one?

No. Gain is a level of brightness meaning the star has found its proper place, with steady, understated strength. Over 50% of Metal 4 Tian Fu are at Gain (in Mao, Si or Hai), with Hai alone over 25%. Tian Fu has no Fallen position in any of the twelve palaces, and Gain is its lowest. A Tian Fu at Gain holds on well and is also more willing to share resources out, which fits Earth producing Metal nicely.

Does a Metal 4 Tian Fu get along with a Wu Qu person?

They often make good partners. Tian Fu is the treasury and Wu Qu is wealth; a Metal 4 Tian Fu is good at releasing resources and Wu Qu at putting them to work, one keeping the store, the other acting. Both care about money, so agree on spending priorities first: what counts as investment and what counts as expense, with each person's definitions written down.

How common is the Metal 4 · Tian Fu type?

Out of 262,980 charts cast for every day and every two-hour period from 1950–2009, 2,154 have Tian Fu leading the Life Palace and the Metal 4 Bureau: about 0.8%, roughly 1 in 122 people. Every day and hour is counted equally, so this is not the actual birth distribution of a population.

Why can two people born on the same day be different types?

Where your Life Palace falls depends on your birth month and birth hour, and your Five Elements Bureau comes from the stem and branch of that palace. So on the same day, one two-hour period later moves the Life Palace by one, and the main star and bureau can both change. The twelve hours of a single day usually produce several different types.

What is the Five Elements Bureau?

The Five Elements Bureau is the Nayin element of your Life Palace stem and branch: Water 2, Wood 3, Metal 4, Earth 5 or Fire 6. The number places the Zi Wei star on the chart and is also the age your first 10-year period begins (2 for Water, 6 for Fire). A bigger number is not better or worse; Xingge reads the element as a flavour of the same persona.

How is this different from MBTI?

MBTI comes from a questionnaire about how you see yourself. An Xingge type comes from your birth date and time, with nothing to answer, and the same birth details always give the same type. They work well side by side: MBTI describes your current habits, the chart describes your underlying nature and the rhythm of your life.

Which type do I get if my Life Palace has two main stars?

When two main stars share the Life Palace, the one listed first (in the order of the Zi Wei and Tian Fu star groups) sets the persona, the same as on your chart page. A Life Palace with no main star is the Empty Palace: the Traveler.

A type looks only at the Life Palace and the bureau: the roughest outline of a chart. People of the same type differ in the Body Palace, the surrounding palaces and the transformations.
