What the Wood 3 · Qi Sha type is like
Give a Wood 3 Qi Sha a supply line and they can fight their way a very long way. Their drive is not a gust of wind but a fire with wood to burn, growing stronger the longer it goes.
Qi Sha meets the Wood 3 Bureau
Wood feeds Fire, so here the bureau feeds the star: Qi Sha is Fire, the Wood 3 Bureau is Wood, and the bureau keeps adding fuel. That gives this Qi Sha a supply line behind it, with strength left after one sprint for the next, and there are often people around willing to carry the logistics. Chen, Yin, Wu and Zi split about 80% between them evenly, while Xu turns up only rarely. Zi and Wu together come close to 40%, the most of any bureau; Qi Sha there is Prosperous (Wang), with Wu Qu and Tian Fu opposite. Yin, Shen, Chen and Xu are all Temple (Miao), so overall about 60% are Temple and 40% Prosperous, the highest Prosperous share of the five.
Work and money
The Gu Sui Fu in the first volume says “Qi Sha and Po Jun should go out from home.” The ancients felt Qi Sha could not spread its wings staying put, and needed to go out to find its stage. A Wood 3 Qi Sha suits that road especially well: overseas postings, opening new markets, setting up a base in an unfamiliar city, with the bureau's fuel letting them go far and hold out. Their income tends to follow the ground they win: sales results, profit shares, equity in new ventures. They are willing to commit, but what matters even more is having someone to hold the ground with them afterwards.
Love and getting along
In love they are the one who leads the way forward: moving to a new city together, starting a business together, trying something nobody has tried. What they bring is momentum; what they need from the partner is a home front, somewhere to come back to. They should remember, too, that a partner is not their supply corps. The other person has their own battles, and sometimes needs them to turn round and be the supply line.
When things get stuck
Pile on too much fuel and the fire burns too hot. Wood feeding Fire gives them abundant energy and also a habit of escalating: project after project, a full calendar, rest always pushed to next quarter. A season with no new fuel lets the fire settle back to the right size. And supply lines that stretch too far can break. The further they go, the more it matters to look back at the people who have backed them along the way.
The rhythm of the 10-year periods
Where the supply line comes from shows up especially clearly in a Wood 3 Qi Sha's second period. The first period is the Life Palace where Qi Sha sits, from age 3 (counted the traditional way); at the change at 13, some step into the Parents Palace and some into the Siblings Palace, depending on the yin or yang of the birth year and on sex. A decade in the Parents Palace brings the general face to face with superiors: rules, expectations, moments when orders must be followed, and the lesson is how to charge within a chain of command. A decade in the Siblings Palace brings comrades: friends fighting alongside, and the lesson is how to lead a unit and share the credit. Qi Sha trained by the first road understands the people above; by the second, the people alongside.

Where it comes from in Purple Star Astrology
In this type Qi Sha leads the Life Palace. The Life Palace is the one of twelve that says who you are, and its main star sets your base color; when two main stars share it, the first one counts.
The bureau is the Wood 3 Bureau. The Five Elements Bureau comes from the Nayin of your Life Palace stem and branch; it places the Zi Wei star on the chart and sets the age your first 10-year period starts, which is 3 for this bureau. No bureau is better than another; Xingge reads it as a flavour of the same persona.

FAQ
Does a Wood 3 Qi Sha in Zi or Wu count as Qi Sha Chao Dou (Seven Killings Faces the Dipper)?
Yes. A Xingge chart marks it whenever Qi Sha is alone in the Life Palace in any of Zi, Wu, Yin or Shen. In Zi or Wu the opposite palace holds Wu Qu and Tian Fu, a version later writers often call facing upward to the Dipper; the chart marks it all the same, with a note. Nearly 40% of this type sit in Zi or Wu, and with Yin and Shen added about 73% qualify, the highest of the five bureaus. Chen and Xu do not count.
Which types does a Wood 3 Qi Sha get along with?
When they push forward, what they need most is someone to hold the ground they win, and types good at minding the rear, such as those with Tian Fu or Tian Xiang in the Life Palace, often make excellent partners. Two chargers together make for an exciting pairing, but they need to agree first on who minds the home front. For more certainty, comparing the two Spouse Palaces says more than the main stars alone.
How common is the Wood 3 · Qi Sha type?
Out of 262,980 charts cast for every day and every two-hour period from 1950–2009, 2,228 have Qi Sha leading the Life Palace and the Wood 3 Bureau: about 0.8%, roughly 1 in 118 people. Every day and hour is counted equally, so this is not the actual birth distribution of a population.
Why can two people born on the same day be different types?
Where your Life Palace falls depends on your birth month and birth hour, and your Five Elements Bureau comes from the stem and branch of that palace. So on the same day, one two-hour period later moves the Life Palace by one, and the main star and bureau can both change. The twelve hours of a single day usually produce several different types.
What is the Five Elements Bureau?
The Five Elements Bureau is the Nayin element of your Life Palace stem and branch: Water 2, Wood 3, Metal 4, Earth 5 or Fire 6. The number places the Zi Wei star on the chart and is also the age your first 10-year period begins (2 for Water, 6 for Fire). A bigger number is not better or worse; Xingge reads the element as a flavour of the same persona.
How is this different from MBTI?
MBTI comes from a questionnaire about how you see yourself. An Xingge type comes from your birth date and time, with nothing to answer, and the same birth details always give the same type. They work well side by side: MBTI describes your current habits, the chart describes your underlying nature and the rhythm of your life.
Which type do I get if my Life Palace has two main stars?
When two main stars share the Life Palace, the one listed first (in the order of the Zi Wei and Tian Fu star groups) sets the persona, the same as on your chart page. A Life Palace with no main star is the Empty Palace: the Traveler.
A type looks only at the Life Palace and the bureau: the roughest outline of a chart. People of the same type differ in the Body Palace, the surrounding palaces and the transformations.
