What the Earth 5 · Lian Zhen type is like
The surface looks calm, but there is heat underneath. An Earth 5 Lian Zhen is like geothermal heat: the warmth never shows, yet it keeps the ground above it warm.
Lian Zhen meets the Earth 5 Bureau
Here the star feeds the bureau: Lian Zhen's Fire produces Earth 5's Earth, so their warmth often turns into other people's stability while they themselves go largely unseen. The six pairings are spread evenly in this bureau, with only Lian Zhen and Tan Lang a little behind. The Xu and Shen branches are the most frequent, each a little over 10%; Profit (Li) and Average (Ping) are almost exactly equal at about 34% each, and Temple (Miao) and Fallen (Xian) are both around 15%.
Work and money
The Complete Book says Lian Zhen, “meeting the emperor's seat, wields authority; meeting Lu Cun, it means wealth and rank; meeting Wen Chang, a love of ritual and music; meeting malefic stars, distinction in a military post”: the same star grows into whatever its company shapes it into. With all six pairings evenly spread in Earth 5, the line fits especially well here. With Tian Fu, they are steady; with Qi Sha, tough; with Tian Xiang, measured; alone, the most their own person. Fire feeding Earth makes them good at holding up a system from behind: operations, HR, finance, logistics, or the one who keeps the rules in a family business. With money they hold on well and prefer stable assets that can be handed down.
Love and getting along
In love their warmth is steady rather than fiery, but it is always there. With Fire feeding Earth, they show it by giving: they remember what needs fixing at home and whose birthday is coming up. A partner who wants to see the heat can suggest a project to finish together, planting something, sorting out a room. Geothermal heat surfaces most easily when two people are working side by side.
When things get stuck
Geothermal heat with nowhere to go keeps the ground hot: they quietly hold the whole system up, nobody knows they are doing it, and the people around them only notice they have been a little short-tempered lately. This type often thinks, “I do so much, and nobody knows.” Talking about what they do is not showing off; telling the people around them now and then what they are busy with gives the heat somewhere to go.
The rhythm of the 10-year periods
Heat from underground rises slowly, and so does an Earth 5 Lian Zhen. The periods begin at age 5 (counted the traditional way), with the first decade on the Life Palace, then changes at 15, 25 and 35. Moving into a new period, they are usually in no hurry to commit; they first find out how deep the soil is in that palace before deciding where to send the warmth. That slowness is the reason they are so steady.

Where it comes from in Purple Star Astrology
In this type Lian Zhen leads the Life Palace. The Life Palace is the one of twelve that says who you are, and its main star sets your base color; when two main stars share it, the first one counts.
The bureau is the Earth 5 Bureau. The Five Elements Bureau comes from the Nayin of your Life Palace stem and branch; it places the Zi Wei star on the chart and sets the age your first 10-year period starts, which is 5 for this bureau. No bureau is better than another; Xingge reads it as a flavour of the same persona.

FAQ
What is a Lian Zhen with Tian Fu person like?
Lian Zhen with Tian Fu always sits in Chen or Xu, at Profit (Li), with Qi Sha always in the opposite palace. Tian Fu's steadiness plus Lian Zhen's principles make for orderly, reliable work, and Qi Sha across the chart adds a charge they can call on when needed. About 17% of Earth 5 Lian Zhen have this pairing. They are often the most reassuring managers in an organisation; the reminder is that long steadiness can slide into caution, so let that Qi Sha drive out now and then.
What work suits an Earth 5 Lian Zhen?
Work that holds up a system from behind: operations management, HR, finance, logistics, quality control, running a family business. They are good at setting the rules and keeping things running smoothly. What they want is a trusted position, not necessarily the most visible one.
How common is the Earth 5 · Lian Zhen type?
Out of 262,980 charts cast for every day and every two-hour period from 1950–2009, 4,380 have Lian Zhen leading the Life Palace and the Earth 5 Bureau: about 1.7%, roughly 1 in 60 people. Every day and hour is counted equally, so this is not the actual birth distribution of a population.
Why can two people born on the same day be different types?
Where your Life Palace falls depends on your birth month and birth hour, and your Five Elements Bureau comes from the stem and branch of that palace. So on the same day, one two-hour period later moves the Life Palace by one, and the main star and bureau can both change. The twelve hours of a single day usually produce several different types.
What is the Five Elements Bureau?
The Five Elements Bureau is the Nayin element of your Life Palace stem and branch: Water 2, Wood 3, Metal 4, Earth 5 or Fire 6. The number places the Zi Wei star on the chart and is also the age your first 10-year period begins (2 for Water, 6 for Fire). A bigger number is not better or worse; Xingge reads the element as a flavour of the same persona.
How is this different from MBTI?
MBTI comes from a questionnaire about how you see yourself. An Xingge type comes from your birth date and time, with nothing to answer, and the same birth details always give the same type. They work well side by side: MBTI describes your current habits, the chart describes your underlying nature and the rhythm of your life.
Which type do I get if my Life Palace has two main stars?
When two main stars share the Life Palace, the one listed first (in the order of the Zi Wei and Tian Fu star groups) sets the persona, the same as on your chart page. A Life Palace with no main star is the Empty Palace: the Traveler.
A type looks only at the Life Palace and the bureau: the roughest outline of a chart. People of the same type differ in the Body Palace, the surrounding palaces and the transformations.
