Where the chart lines up

Don Juan premieres in 1889

On November 11, 1889 (nominal age 26), his tone poem Don Juan premiered in Weimar to an enthusiastic critical response, and it soon brought him international fame and success. In the annual Four Transformations of 1889, Wu Qu (Li) takes Hua Lu (Transformation of Wealth) and enters his natal Life Palace. The Life Palace stands for the man himself, and Hua Lu is gain, which lines up with a work bringing him personally into international view that year.

Leaving a conservative style for the tone poem

In 1885 Strauss met the violinist and composer Alexander Ritter, who convinced him to abandon his more conservative style of composing and take Wagner and Liszt as his models. This showed first in his turn to the tone poem, and later in works such as Also sprach Zarathustra (1896). In his chart, the birth-year Po Jun (Wang) with Hua Quan (Transformation of Power) falls in the Career Palace. Po Jun is the star that swaps out the old road, and Hua Quan is holding the reins, which lines up with his taking a new road in his composing.

A villa built with the Salome advance

In 1906 Strauss bought a plot of land at Garmisch-Partenkirchen and built a villa there with the down payments from the publisher Adolph Fürstner for his opera Salome. He was then in the Decade Luck for nominal ages 36–45, and the decade's Life Palace was his natal Property Palace itself. The Property Palace covers one's home and family property, which fits his buying land and building a house in this period.
