What the Fire 6 · Tai Yang type is like

Fire on Fire: a campfire burning in the dark. A Fire 6 Tai Yang is fierce and bright, burns highest whenever there are people around, and warms everyone who draws close.

Tai Yang meets the Fire 6 Bureau

Fire on Fire: Tai Yang is Fire and so is the Fire 6 Bureau. Like meets like, and the heat here is concentrated and quick to flare. About 51% have Tai Yang alone; Tai Yang with Ju Men and with Tai Yin are about 17% each, and with Tian Liang about 15%. About half have the Life Palace in Xu, Hai, Zi, Chou or Yin, the stretch from night to early morning, so Prosperous (Wang) is about 30%, Unsupported (Bu) and Fallen (Xian) about 20% each, Gain (De) about 14%, and Temple (Miao) and Average (Ping) under 10% each. This is a fire lit at night, and the darker the place, the more it stands out.

Work and money

The Complete Book opens its entry by saying Tai Yang “belongs to fire and is the essence of the sun. It is the model and exemplar of creation.” The essence is the purest part of the fire; the exemplar is the one others measure themselves against. In Fire 6 that purity becomes a pull on people: when they say “let's do it,” others often follow. They suit leading a team, the early days of a startup, sport and performance, work that sets a crowd alight. The cost of Fire on Fire is burning fast, and they easily take on too much at once. Money arrives in a rush and leaves in one; purchases made in the heat of the moment are best paid for the next morning.

Love and getting along

In love they are passionate and open: obvious when they love, obvious when they are angry. They need a partner who does not mind the heat, who can catch their feelings and hand them a glass of water when they burn too high. Their fire comes and goes quickly, and after an argument they are often the first to apologise.

When things get stuck

A campfire nobody tends ends up as ash: after a burst of effort they often go out suddenly, unable to care about anything. With Fire on Fire the highs and lows are especially marked. Rather than blaming themselves for short bursts of enthusiasm, they do better to accept the rhythm: sprint, rest, sprint again. Writing the rest into the schedule keeps them from burning down to nothing every time.

The rhythm of the 10-year periods

A Fire 6 Tai Yang's periods start at age 6 (counted the traditional way), with the first, up to 15, in the Life Palace; after that they change at 16, 26 and 36. A campfire is most likely to go out while it is being moved. Around a change of period, the old enthusiasm has wound down and the new one is not yet lit, and this type may go through a stretch of feeling “not warm enough.” That gap is the time for carrying firewood. Get the wood in place, and in the new period the fire catches again.

Where it comes from in Purple Star Astrology

In this type Tai Yang leads the Life Palace. The Life Palace is the one of twelve that says who you are, and its main star sets your base color; when two main stars share it, the first one counts.

The bureau is the Fire 6 Bureau. The Five Elements Bureau comes from the Nayin of your Life Palace stem and branch; it places the Zi Wei star on the chart and sets the age your first 10-year period starts, which is 6 for this bureau. No bureau is better than another; Xingge reads it as a flavour of the same persona.

FAQ

What is the Jin Can Guang Hui pattern?

On the Xingge chart, Tai Yang alone in the Life Palace in Wu is marked Jin Can Guang Hui (Golden Radiance), the noonday sun; if a malefic star shares the palace, the reading notes that the benefits are reduced. The Complete Book's Taiwei Fu also says “Tai Yang in Wu is called the sun splendid at midheaven: it brings the nobility of sole authority and wealth to rival a nation.” In Fire 6, under 10% have the Life Palace in Wu. The old writers saw power and wealth; today it reads as a natural presence on stage, with the reminder that a light that strong can also scorch.

Does Fire on Fire mean a bad temper?

That is a common misreading. Fire on Fire means concentrated heat, not a short fuse. This type shows its feelings openly, joy and anger written on the face, so the swings look big; but they come and go quickly, and grudges are rare. What needs looking after more than the temper is energy and sleep.

How common is the Fire 6 · Tai Yang type?

Out of 262,980 charts cast for every day and every two-hour period from 1950–2009, 4,389 have Tai Yang leading the Life Palace and the Fire 6 Bureau: about 1.7%, roughly 1 in 60 people. Every day and hour is counted equally, so this is not the actual birth distribution of a population.

Why can two people born on the same day be different types?

Where your Life Palace falls depends on your birth month and birth hour, and your Five Elements Bureau comes from the stem and branch of that palace. So on the same day, one two-hour period later moves the Life Palace by one, and the main star and bureau can both change. The twelve hours of a single day usually produce several different types.

What is the Five Elements Bureau?

The Five Elements Bureau is the Nayin element of your Life Palace stem and branch: Water 2, Wood 3, Metal 4, Earth 5 or Fire 6. The number places the Zi Wei star on the chart and is also the age your first 10-year period begins (2 for Water, 6 for Fire). A bigger number is not better or worse; Xingge reads the element as a flavour of the same persona.

How is this different from MBTI?

MBTI comes from a questionnaire about how you see yourself. An Xingge type comes from your birth date and time, with nothing to answer, and the same birth details always give the same type. They work well side by side: MBTI describes your current habits, the chart describes your underlying nature and the rhythm of your life.

Which type do I get if my Life Palace has two main stars?

When two main stars share the Life Palace, the one listed first (in the order of the Zi Wei and Tian Fu star groups) sets the persona, the same as on your chart page. A Life Palace with no main star is the Empty Palace: the Traveler.

A type looks only at the Life Palace and the bureau: the roughest outline of a chart. People of the same type differ in the Body Palace, the surrounding palaces and the transformations.
