You speak well and your words carry weight.

Hold some back, and disputes will be fewer.

Stars
Tai Yang NatureYou are warm and love looking after people, giving without keeping score. When you shine this much, save some light for yourself.
Ju Men NatureYou speak plainly and love getting to the bottom of things, spotting what others miss. Soften how you say it, and there is less friction.
Ju Men–Tai YangClassical texts say with Ju Men and the Sun in Shen and the Life Palace in Yin, you win fame and a living. Today, it means your words are your capital, and once your reputation is built, income follows.“Star Combinations: Ju Men”
Ju MenIn the opposite palace Ju Men is at Miao, and you love getting to the bottom of things. You can make your case clearly, but you don't need to win every exchange.
Borrowed StarsWith no main star in your Life Palace, your basic character is borrowed from Ju Men and Tai Yang opposite, with less force than if they sat here. The people and setting around you shape you more deeply than most.
Origin PalaceWhat you care about most is becoming who you want to be, and you give your all only to what you chose. When stuck, ask yourself whether you really want it.
Life Master Lu CunDeep down you want stability and value security and practicality. Holding steady is a skill; do not let it keep you from moving. Your Life Master sits in your Children Palace, so your thoughts often circle around children and younger people.
Patterns
Ji Yue Tong LiangAll four stars gather in the trines of your Life Palace. Classical texts say this pattern points to clerical, behind-the-scenes work. You suit professional, structured or advisory roles, building up steadily over time.Classic pattern
Ma Feng Jie Kong (Horse Meets Jie Kong)Tian Ma falls in Jie Kong: lots of running around does not always bring results. Know what you want before you set out, so the trip is not wasted.Later pattern
Transformations
Trines: LuShining in from the Wealth Palace (Tian Liang Hua Lu): resources back you up.
This part follows the Flying Star school: where this palace's stem sends its transformations. It is a different method from the classical reading above.
Lu to WealthYou are your own source of income and can earn on your own ability. Investing in yourself pays best.
Ji to FriendsThe palace stem sends Wu Qu Hua Ji into your Friends Palace: when things stall here, it often shows with your friends as well.
Auxiliary Stars
Tian MaYou were born unable to sit still, and your life unfolds through moving and trying things. The more willing you are to change scenery, the more opportunities you meet.

The Life Palace is about: Who you are at the core: your temperament and innate makeup. Every chart reading starts here.

Where the chart lines up

A reporter who wrote from what she saw

Colette taught herself to be a reporter, writing about social trends, theatre, fashion and film. She said: "You have to see and not invent, you have to touch, not imagine." Over her writing career she published more than 1200 articles in newspapers, magazines and journals. Her Life Palace is an Empty Palace, read through Ju Men (Miao) in the opposite palace. Ju Men stands for the mouth and speech, and is often read as work such as commentary and reporting, where views are expressed by speaking and writing. Her reporting can be read alongside it.

Literary editor in 1914

In 1910 Colette published La Vagabonde, about women's independence in a male society; in December that year she began a regular column for Le Matin, and in 1914 she was named the paper's literary editor. In the Decade Luck for nominal ages 34–43 (1905–1914), the decade's Life Palace moves to her Children Palace, which holds Zi Wei (Wang) with Hua Quan (Transformation of Power). Hua Quan stands for taking the lead, which fits her taking the editor's chair.

Writing her mother Sido into her books

Colette's mother was nicknamed Sido. La Naissance du jour (1928) uses the character of her mother, Sido, to meditate on age and the renunciation of love; in 1929 she published Sido, of which Janet Flanner wrote, "It... has no plot, and yet tells of three lives all that should be known". Her chart shows Wen Qu (Wang) in the Parents Palace. The Parents Palace stands for parents, and Wen Qu is the star of literary talent, which lines up with her writing her mother into her work.
