To check your "2027 love luck" in Zi Wei Dou Shu (Purple Star Astrology), look at the yearly Spouse Palace. In the Ding Wei year, it falls in the "Si" box of your chart, same for everyone. Which natal palace Si corresponds to in your own chart, what stars sit there, and whether it encounters the Ding-year Four Transformations (Tai Yin Hua Lu, Tian Tong Hua Quan, Tian Ji Hua Ke, Ju Men Hua Ji) determine the tone of your relationships this year. About 32% of charts have a Transformation star in the Si Palace. The Si box in 2027 also contains three yearly stars that appear only this year: Liu Qu (Yearly Wen Qu), Liu Tuo (Yearly Tuo Luo), and Liu Ma (Yearly Tian Ma). These are discussed below together. To confirm your Si Palace first, generate your birth chart and then proceed.

Why the Yearly Spouse Palace Is in Si

2027 is the Ding Wei year, so the yearly Life Palace is in Wei. The twelve yearly palaces count backward from Wei according to the Earthly Branches: Wei is Life, Wu is Siblings, Si is Spouse. This is determined by the year's branch, not by your birthday or zodiac sign; the full position table is in Overview of the 12 Yearly Palaces.

Zi Wei Dou Shu follows the lunar calendar for the change of year. 2027 starts from February 6 on the Gregorian calendar. Before February 5, it is still the 2026 Bing Wu year, where the yearly Spouse Palace is in Chen.

Si is not in the San Fang Si Zheng (the trines and opposite) of the yearly Life Palace (Wei, Mao, Hai, Chou). The boxes for work and money are automatically brought into focus by the year's center of gravity; the relationship box is not. Whether it becomes the protagonist of the year depends on which natal palace Si corresponds to, and whether it is activated by the Four Transformations or yearly stars.

Which Natal Palace Is Si?

First, see which Earthly Branch your natal Life Palace is in, then map out which palace Si is for you. The table below uses a chart calculation program to verify all twelve possible Life Palace positions:

For those with their Life Palace in Wei, Si happens to be the natal Spouse Palace. With two layers of relationship palaces overlapping in the same box, understand your natal Spouse Palace first to have a reference for this year. You can start with the base tone from pages on major stars in the Spouse Palace, such as Tian Ji in Spouse Palace, Tian Tong in Spouse Palace, or articles like Tan Lang in Spouse Palace and Zi Wei in Spouse Palace.

This table can also be applied to the Decade Luck (Da Xian): replace "Natal Life Palace" with the Earthly Branch of your current Decade Life Palace to see which palace Si is in during this ten-year period. Stacking these two layers makes the year's theme clearer. How the three layers stack is explained in The Lesson on Layered Charts.

What Stars Are in Si Palace, and How to Read Relationships

There are only twelve possible combinations for the Si box. The percentages in the table below are based on statistics from a chart calculation program using birth dates from even-numbered years between 1950 and 2008, sampling one day every four days across all twelve double-hours, totaling over 30,000 charts. Brightness refers to the brightness of that star when sitting in the Si Palace. The interpretations are summarized from the site's sentences for the Spouse Palace.

Stars in Si PalaceApprox. %BrightnessTone of Relationships
Tian Liang11.1%Xian (Fallen)Prone to being the caretaker, but also criticized for managing too much; less lecturing, more listening.
Tian Ji10.6%Ping (Average)Like partners who are easy to chat with and quick-witted; thoughts wander, variables are frequent.
Tian Xiang10.2%De (Gain)Care about the partner's dignity; likely to meet reasonable people who value appearance; speak sincerely beyond just looks.
Zi Wei plus Qi Sha10.2%Wang, PingAttracted to people with presence and strong opinions; comes fast and strong; settling down later makes both stand firmer.
Ju Men10.2%Wang (Prosperous)Relationships are sustained by communication; opening up brings you closer; argue less about right/wrong, listen more to feelings.
Empty Palace8.4%NoneBorrow from the opposite Hai Palace; discussed separately below.
Lian Zhen plus Tan Lang8.2%Xian, XianIntense love with testing; many opportunities around you; settle your heart, reduce defensive maneuvers.
Tai Yang7.4%Wang (Prosperous)Attracted to sunny, ambitious people; you are willing to give, but need to be received.
Wu Qu plus Po Jun6.8%Ping, PingLove directly and intensely; dislike old routines; give each other some space.
Tian Fu6.1%De (Gain)Want stable, secure relationships; likely to meet mature, reliable people; open your heart only when security is sufficient.
Tian Tong6.1%Miao (Temple)Pursue relaxed, sweet interactions; the partner's ease of communication is most important; don't just think about being pampered.
Tai Yin4.8%Xian (Fallen)Prone to sensitivity, expecting the partner to understand you; state needs clearly for the relationship to last.

Brightness is not good or bad; it just indicates how smoothly the star functions in this position. Stars at Miao or Wang (Tian Tong, Tai Yang, Ju Men) have a more direct and natural tone. Stars at Xian (Tian Liang, Tai Yin, Lian Zhen/Tan Lang) do not mean you cannot have relationships, but rather that the same traits require more self-awareness to avoid going astray. For example, Tian Liang's care can sound like preaching if expressed too much.

For charts where the Si Palace is an Empty Palace, borrow the stars from the opposite Hai Palace to read, which is also the yearly Career Palace. Interestingly, in the sample, every chart with an Empty Si Palace has Lian Zhen and Tan Lang in the Hai Palace, because this pair only sits in Si or Hai; if one side is empty, the other holds them. Therefore, for those with an Empty Si Palace, the tone is close to the Lian Zhen and Tan Lang entry in the table above, but the borrowed influence is weaker, so pay more attention to auxiliary stars and the Four Transformations. The logic of borrowing stars for Empty Palaces is in Life Palace Empty Palace.

Do the Ding-Year Four Transformations Fall into Si Palace?

The Ding-year Four Transformations are Tai Yin Hua Lu, Tian Tong Hua Quan, Tian Ji Hua Ke, and Ju Men Hua Ji. The Transformation stars follow the main stars; wherever the star sits in your chart, the Transformation star is there. The situation for Si Palace is:

Si Palace ContainsApprox. %Site's Reading for this Transformation in Spouse Palace
Tian Ji (Hua Ke)10.6%Like partners who are easy to chat with and reasonable; seek mutual respect, not clinginess.
Ju Men (Hua Ji)10.2%Prone to misunderstandings or cold wars over a single sentence; stop using tests to seek security, state problems clearly.
Tian Tong (Hua Quan)6.1%Want to hold the rhythm in your own hands; discuss who has the final say first, so intimacy does not become a power struggle.
Tai Yin (Hua Lu)4.8%Attracted to delicate, considerate people; want to be understood, not just treated well.

Combined, about 32% of charts have one of these in the Si Palace. These four stars do not appear together in pairs in the Si Palace, so each chart has at most one tone. For the remaining roughly 70% of charts where Si Palace is not directly hit by a Transformation, look at the stars in Si itself, plus its San Fang Si Zheng: Si, Hai, You, and Chou. About half of the charts have a Ding-year Transformation star in these four boxes. The method to check is in Three Steps to Self-Check Yearly Luck.

Two reminders. First, although both are Hua Lu, Tai Yin in Si is in a Fallen position, so the smooth feeling is lighter and requires you to actively receive it. Similarly, although both are Hua Ji, Ju Men in Si is in a Prosperous position; if you speak clearly, you can use your eloquence to block misunderstandings before they happen. Second, the Four Transformations only describe "areas of concern," not outcomes. The palace-by-palace readings for each Transformation star are in Ju Men Hua Ji, Tian Ji Hua Ke, Tai Yin Hua Lu, and Tian Tong Hua Quan.

Three More Yearly Stars in Si Palace in 2027

Besides natal stars, the yearly luck adds a batch of yearly stars that appear only in that year, positioned by the year's Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch, same for everyone. In the Ding Wei year, Liu Qu (Yearly Wen Qu), Liu Tuo (Yearly Tuo Luo), and Liu Ma (Yearly Tian Ma) are all in Si, meaning they are all in the yearly Spouse Palace. The site's readings for them in the Spouse Palace are:

  • Liu Qu (Yearly Wen Qu): More romantic thoughts toward your partner; sweet words add points, but you must be able to back them up with action.
  • Liu Tuo (Yearly Tuo Luo): Relationships tend to spin in place, bringing up old issues; stop digging up the past, listen more to your partner.
  • Liu Ma (Yearly Tian Ma): Long-distance or separated situations are likely; initiate contact more, don't let distance pull you apart.

Read these three sentences together as a reminder list: express your feelings more, don't keep score of old grievances when arguing, and rely on regular contact to bridge the gap when far apart. These three stars are in everyone's yearly Spouse Palace, which does not mean everyone will encounter these events, but that the atmosphere of this box leans in this direction this year.

Many people checking 2027 love luck also search for Hong Luan and Tian Xi. In the Ding Wei year, the yearly Hong Luan is in Shen and Tian Xi is in Yin, neither is in Si. These two stars have historically been seen as related to fate and celebrations. In the yearly chart, they fall in the Parents Palace (Shen) and Health Palace (Yin). Check which natal palace they correspond to for you in the table below:

When Hong Luan or Tian Xi falls in your natal Spouse Palace, Life Palace, Fortune Palace, or Friends Palace, it is often used as a clue that "the atmosphere for popularity and happy events is warmer this year." It remains just an atmosphere, not a timetable.

Opposite Palace in Hai: Relationships and Work Influence Each Other

The opposite palace of Si is Hai, which is the 2027 yearly Career Palace. Hai has a Liu Kui (Yearly Tian Kui). The site's reading is that career benefits from noble help and being seen by superiors. When you are heavily utilized and busy at work, relationships may be pushed to the background; when relationships provide stable support, work pressure is easier to bear. Looking at both sides when scheduling and discussing expectations is more accurate than focusing on just one. There is a separate article dedicated to the yearly Career Palace in Hai.

How People with Different Life Palace Major Stars Handle the Same Situation

People with different Life Palace major stars handle the same relationship situation differently.

Partner replies to messages slowly this week

Tian Ji people will think of three possibilities first before deciding whether to ask; Wu Qu people directly ask, "Are you busy lately?"; Tai Yin people say nothing but silently note it down.

Want to push the relationship forward

Tan Lang people will arrange a special occasion; Tian Fu people will confirm that life aspects are stable first; Tian Tong people want it to happen naturally with the mood.

After a fight, who speaks first

Qi Sha people mostly leave first to cool down; Ju Men people want to clarify things, but might start arguing again as soon as they speak; Tian Liang people will write their stance into a paragraph.

There is no right or wrong among these three approaches; each has its strengths. The yearly Spouse Palace serves to remind you which aspect to pay more attention to this year.

How Couples, Singles, and Long-Term Partners Can Use This

The yearly Spouse Palace governs spouses and partners, as well as long-term cooperative partners. The following approaches apply to all three types of relationships.

For those in a relationship, look at the rhythm of interaction:

  • If Si Palace is influenced by Hua Ke or Hua Lu: Schedule the things you want to do together early in the calendar.
  • If Si Palace is influenced by Hua Ji or Hua Quan: It is not a bad thing, just a point of concern. State your concerns in one go rather than spreading them out.
  • If Si Palace is not hit by any Transformation: Stick to your original interaction style, and focus your energy on other palaces that are activated.
  • Regardless of Transformations, Liu Tuo (Yearly Tuo Luo) is in Si: Whoever brings up old grievances, let that argument stay confined to the events of that day.

For singles, look at what you want:

  • First check which natal palace Si corresponds to. The scene of that palace (friend circle, work, business trips) is where you are more likely to meet people this year.
  • With Liu Ma (Yearly Tian Ma) in Si, long-distance or cross-border connections are possible. Decide how much distance you can accept before deciding whether to proceed.
  • You do not need to wait for a Transformation to act. Transformations are reminders, not tickets.

For long-term cooperative partners: The reading for the same box applies. The reminder from Liu Tuo (Yearly Tuo Luo) translates plainly to "clear past accounts first."

FAQ

Where is the 2027 Yearly Spouse Palace?

The yearly Spouse Palace of the Ding Wei year is in Si, same for everyone. Which natal palace Si corresponds to depends on the Earthly Branch of your natal Life Palace: if Life Palace is in Mao, Si is the Fortune Palace; if Life Palace is in Wei, Si is the Spouse Palace. See the comparison table above for the method.

If Si Palace has Hua Ji, will love be unlucky in 2027?

Do not draw a final conclusion based on this alone. The Ding-year Hua Ji is Ju Men. Falling in Si Palace, it means speech and communication become the area of most concern in relationships this year. Ju Men in Si Palace is in a Prosperous position, so eloquence is already an asset. Speaking clearly in one go and letting the partner guess less is the most direct approach.

For singles, what to look at in 2027?

First see which natal palace Si corresponds to, then look at the stars in Si Palace and whether there are Ding-year Transformations. With Liu Ma (Yearly Tian Ma) in Si, long-distance or cross-border connections are more common. Hong Luan and Tian Xi are in Shen and Yin; check their positions in your natal chart using the table above. These are clues to the atmosphere; action still depends on your own pace.

When does the 2027 love luck start?

It follows the lunar calendar change, starting from the first day of the first lunar month, which is February 6, 2027, on the Gregorian calendar. Before February 5, it is still the 2026 Bing Wu year, where the yearly Spouse Palace is in Chen.
