You're quick-witted and eloquent, able to plan and persuade.

You're also slow to trust, and life brings many disputes, rushing and toil.

Stars
Tian Ji NatureYour mind moves fast; you love working out a plan and seeing how everything fits. You think a lot, so remember to act on it too.
Ju Men NatureYou speak plainly and love getting to the bottom of things, spotting what others miss. Soften how you say it, and there is less friction.
Tian Ji–Ju Men TogetherYou're quick to react, talkative and persuasive, but you're slow to trust and don't easily fit in with people.
By BranchClassical texts say Ju Men and Tian Ji in You, even with good transformations, can't keep wealth and rank to the end. Today, money and position last only with long-term care.“Star Combinations: Ju Men”
Origin PalaceWhat you care about most is becoming who you want to be, and you give your all only to what you chose. When stuck, ask yourself whether you really want it.
Life Master Wen QuYou are naturally expressive and artistic, and you get noticed through expression. Write, speak and make things. Your Life Master sits in your Career Palace, so your thoughts often circle around work.
Patterns
Ju Ji Tong Lin (Gate and Strategist Together)Tian Ji and Ju Men in You hold your Life Palace: a quick mind and a sharp tongue, strong at research, analysis and expression. Classical texts are cautious about You, saying wealth and position are hard to keep. Today, it means consolidating first and finding a stage where your words can work.Later pattern
Shuang Lu Jiao Liu (Double Lu Exchange)Lu Cun and Hua Lu both sit in the trines of your Life Palace: you have more than one source of income, from your own work and your network, and it grows the more you tend it.Later pattern
Transformations
Tian Ji Hua LuYour mind naturally moves fast, with lots of ideas and a willingness to think things through. Opportunities often start from one of your ideas.
This part follows the Flying Star school: where this palace's stem sends its transformations. It is a different method from the classical reading above.
Self Hua LuYou’re generous with yourself, and good luck tends to get spent on you first. Set a share aside.
Ji to SpouseYou care intensely about relationships and partnerships and find them hard to let go. Say more, guess less.
Minor Stars
Long ChiYou have taste and ingenuity, with a keen eye for beauty and handcraft. Put that gift to use.
YangThings need slow nurturing, and with a helping hand there is plenty of staying power. Do not rush the harvest.

Where the chart lines up

Merging philosophy and literature

In 1939 Sartre published an essay on Husserl's idea of intentionality in Gide's literary magazine La Nouvelle Revue française. It became the manifesto for his project of merging philosophy and literature, and it won him a following among philosophy teachers. In his chart, the Career Palace, one of the Three Directions and Four Corners of his Life Palace, has no main star but holds Wen Chang (Miao). The Career Palace covers work and how one goes about it, and Wen Chang is a star of writing and learning. Writing philosophy with a literary pen fits this star.

Founding Les Temps modernes in 1945

In October 1945 (nominal age 41), Sartre launched the first issue of the quarterly Les Temps modernes as its editor-in-chief, partly to promote his own ideas. In his chart, the annual Life Palace of 1945 returns to his natal Life Palace, and Tian Ji (Wang) with Hua Lu from that year's Four Transformations also falls here. Hua Lu stands for gains, and in the Life Palace the year's gains come back to him. His starting a journal of his own matches that.

His grandfather taught him the classics

As a child Sartre lived with his mother at her parents' home in Meudon. His grandfather Charles Schweitzer, a teacher of German, taught him mathematics and introduced him to classical literature at an early age. His Parents Palace holds Zi Wei (De) with Hua Ke (Transformation of Fame). The Parents Palace covers elders and teachers, and Hua Ke stands for learning and education. A grandfather teaching him in person lines up with this position.
