Find your 10-year luck periods
Da Xian is how Zi Wei Dou Shu reads life in stages: every ten years you move into a new palace, and its affairs become the theme of that decade.
How the periods are laid out
The first period starts at the Life Palace, at the age set by your Five Elements Bureau (2 for Water 2, 6 for Fire 6), and moves one palace every ten years. Men born in a yang year and women born in a yin year move forward around the chart; men born in a yin year and women born in a yang year move backward.
Ages use the traditional count: 1 at birth, plus one at each Lunar New Year. Whichever palace a period sits in, its stars and transformations colour the whole decade, and each year is read on top of that.
FAQ
Which matters more, the decade or the year?
The decade is the climate and the year is the weather. Read the decade for direction first, then the year for what gets amplified.
Is the year a period changes special?
People often feel it, as the focus shifts from one area of life to another. It is less good or bad than a change of theme.
Why do you need my sex?
Whether the periods run forward or backward depends on the yin or yang of your birth year together with your sex. Getting it wrong reverses the whole order.
