Look up a lunar birthday or the pillars for any date. Zi Wei Dou Shu charts use the lunar calendar, but the chart tool converts your Gregorian birth date for you.
Today's almanac
Lunar months, leap months and the zodiac
Lunar months follow the moon, 29 or 30 days each, and a leap month is added roughly every three years to keep pace with the seasons. The zodiac year changes at Lunar New Year, so people born in January or early February often belong to the previous year's animal.
The year and month pillars switch at the solar terms instead (the year pillar at Li Chun, around 4 February). That is how almanacs and Ba Zi count, so it can differ by a few days from the zodiac changeover.
FAQ
Does my lunar birthday fall on the same Gregorian date every year?
No. The two calendars drift by days to a month each year, so convert it for each year.
What if I was born in a leap month?
Leap months do not repeat every year, so most people celebrate in the regular month of the same number. For a Zi Wei chart, leap months follow a fixed rule that the chart tool applies for you.
