Find your Origin Palace
The Origin Palace is the square whose stem matches the stem of your birth year. Tradition calls it where this life's motives start. Enter your birth date and hour to find it.
How to find it
Each of the twelve squares has a stem, laid out from the Yin square according to your birth-year stem. The square whose stem matches your birth-year stem is the Origin Palace. Everyone born in the same year shares those squares, but which palace that square is for you depends on where your Life Palace falls, so you still need your birth hour.
People born in a Ren year are a special case: the Yin and Zi squares both carry the stem Ren. The usual practice, and the one this site follows, is to take the Yin square.

FAQ
How is it different from the Life Palace?
The Life Palace says who you are; the Origin Palace says what moves you and what you care about. Sometimes the two are the same palace.
Does it ever change?
No. It is fixed by your birth year and chart layout for life.
If I was born before Lunar New Year, which year's stem do I use?
The previous year's. Zi Wei Dou Shu changes year at Lunar New Year; the finder handles this, so just enter your ordinary birth date.
